Math & Science (Mondo) - Meefer Radness

Alright, time to get nice and high for this mother****er. This is a beast of an album.

1. Meefer Radness: Jesus Christ right away you can tell Mondo's gonna be really throwing **** at your face for a while here. No holding back. After about a minute and a half of some funkiness going down we're given a super fast beat backed by some unintelligible "vocals" that are really cool in the background. Nice effect there. The melody sticks out JUST ENOUGH in the mix that it almost feels like a pop chorus and verses at points. Fantastic start

2. Linoleum Spirit Dome: The first of several super-long tracks. Yeesh. This one chugs along for a bit doing stuff and making sounds. The sounds are going into my ears and I'm listening. Uh yeah not too much to say, I like it but **** you for making this so long.

3. The Fractal Mackerel: Some bomb ass jazzy sounds mixed into this one. I really like the sudden change to a more dance sounding beat around 2 minutes, but it changes back shortly after. This one develops satisfyingly going into the 2nd half. Some cool tribal sounds near the end. But again so. ****ing. long.

4. Kramerica Industries: A solid track. The little synth line playing behind the distorted madness is a cool effect.

5. Scrape and Lit: Damn this one had me zoning the **** out for a while. I'm halfway through and I don't think anyone has changed much. Some vocals again used here that you can't understand but it's close enough in the mix that you can pick out melodies. I would have made this track like 3 minutes long lol

6. Don't Stand There and Act Like You Don't Think I'm Sexy: Nah you're totally sexy. This song is some neat beats and sound morphed together into a pleasant track. And that's all I have to say about it.

7. I'm so hot blah blah blah: What a truly unpleasant noise that opens this track. Can't wait for that to go away. **** hits the fan a few times throughout and it's neat. That high pitched thing you keep using is giving me a headache. Worst track on the album probably

8. Infinity Math: Getting back on track here. Cool beat mixed with cool distorted nonsense mixed with a nice melodic synthline in the back. It's a strong formula that works really well.

9. Neurodance: Great start to this one. The tracks with vocals are working really well for me. Also holy **** I'm like not even halfway through this album what the ****. The 2nd half is much more heavy than the first which is nice.

10. Squealy Dan: What was that guitar that opened the track up? I was hoping for a sparse track based on that, but we just get more crazy sounds and whatnot. This one's good but the change of pace I was hoping for would have really helped this album I think.

11. Cosmic Wobbles: Good start, feels like it's building up to something. It doesn't really end up building to anything, but the atmosphere of this track feels different from the rest of the album in a good way. It's not the exact change of pace I was looking for but it's still a change of pace that I appreciated.

12. Ska Fever (Math Mix): A very fun track. Good ****.

13. Keep the Fire Burning (Funk From the Sun): Love the sounds that open this one. Honestly THIS is the slower, more sparse track that I was really looking for out of this album. I would have maybe put it earlier in the track listing honestly. Damn yeah this is a fantastic track, the mood of it is really unique. I have no idea how you came up with this, the melodies mix together fantastically all around. It changes up around 2:30 in an extremely satisfying way. God damn there's so much cool **** to listen to all-around, there's even an Asian sounding instrument all of a sudden. Some funky vocals coming in being cool. 10/10 track, favorite on the album.

14. Ska Fever (Science Mix): Clearly different than the other Ska Fever but drawing from similar sources.

15. The Radness: Oh boy a 15 minute track. Just what this album needed. After like an hour and a half I was really thinking to myself yeah let's add a 15 and a half minute track to really keep things rolling that's what I need. Hell yeah. Alright well anyway now that I'm done with that passive aggressive schtick this track is starting off nicely with a fast breakdown that last a few minutes. It's changed a bit but not too much by minute 4. Some minor changes keep happening but that same main instrument has kept chugging along for the entire runtime. Alright well it's over and I wouldn't really call that a great track. It could have literally been 12 minutes shorter and I would've gotten basically the same experience.

16. Blazed and Delicious: Cool little closer. Not too special.

Overall I'd give this album about an 8/10. A little uneven at times and unsurprisingly I found that several tracks were way unnecessarily long but that's just a difference in musical philosophy that we have I think. As usual with a Mondo album there are some points of sheer brilliance like the opener and track 13, and it's definitely worth trudging through some of the behemoth tracks to get to those.
