A lot more people like "Don't Stop Believing" than anything you've posted, so it should qualify more as well. This is about populism, not so much taste. And I have yet to see anybody post anything as beloved as the Fresh Prince theme. So I think I win.

How about we reserve this threads for songs that don't make me want to stab my ears out.

Can you hear this? Congratulations you've passed the hearing test.

Did you like it? If you answered no, then I'm sorry but you've failed the listening test.

Purple Rain is a good choice for this thread. Too bad Prince's legal hounds won't allow it on yootoob. I kinda feel like listening to it now.

Like Neapy said, if people gave that track a shot instead of writing it off I bet they would love it. You were the one that brought up the radio, kiddo. It's not my ****ty logic but yours.

If you guys keep scratching the rash it's just going to get worse.

I'll keep scratching it till it bleeds.
It's not a case of if people listened to it they'd like it, it's what songs they DO like. All, or nearly all of them. None of yours qualify, no matter how much you want them to or wish they did. The radio is, sadly, a very good barometer of how general people, not necessarily those into music, react to songs. If it;s a hit, and played on the wireless a lot, then chances are a large percentage of people like it. Your music, you may love it and all, but go out on the street and ask people if they even know those bands and I know what answer you'll get. And that proves the point right there.

Like Batty said, it's not so much about being good but being popular, well-known and liked. You can't do a tore here, my friend: it just will not work. The evidence is stacked against you.

You seriously think that the Talking Heads, Devo, Tom Waits, and Ornette Coleman are underground? Come on people.

Despite this, I do not care how much you will ad hominem my posts and will continue pursuing this thread with my interpretation.

You go ahead, you're still wrong though. And I never said any of the acts were underground, just not well known outside of music fans. Did you not wonder why I, as a Waits junkie, did not post any of his songs? I love them, but I know that few people would even know of him let alone know his songs, let alone love them.

See that's why I like my approach better, because if we're going off of songs everybody actually knows then we're pretty much restricted to a handful of artists. Forgive me for making this thread better with more interesting music than what your general heathen might be aware of. Also quite sure that most people know of Pink Floyd, come to think of it.

^too bad nobody's ever heard of the guy, his music's phenomenal.

Meh. You're not really being creative. Being creative within the context of this thread would be to come up with something that everybody likes, but that nobody would have thought of. All you're doing is showing off your musical taste. Boooooring.

So am I supposed to put up things that don't fall under my musical taste? Because I think that goes against the point of the thread if I myself dislike the track.
