Oh okay. I agree, they're pretty spastic, which I guess is part of their appeal.

Top 10 in some sort of vague order.

10. Girlpool - Before The World Was Big
9. Sorority Noise - Joy, Departed
8. Jeff Rosenstock - We Cool?
7. Earl Sweatshirt - I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside
6. Waxahatchee - Ivy Tripp
5. Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp A Butterfly
4. Hop Along - Painted Shut
3. The Mountain Goats - Beat The Champ
2. Courtney Barnett - Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit
1. Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell

There are a bunch more albums that came out this year that I really like on first impressions but need to listen to more, so they've just missed the top 10 for now.

This has honestly been a fantastic year for music. So far, i've really enjoyed...

Alesana - Confessions (AOTY potential)
Nightwish - Endless Forms Most Beautiful
A Swarm of the Sun - The Rifts (AOTY potential)
FFS - FFS (AOTY potential)
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress
Belle and Sebastian - Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance

Ones that have been released but I haven't listened to yet...

Steven Wilson - Hand. Cannot. Erase.
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
Ratatat - Magnifique
Paradise Lost - The Plague Within

It's not a lot, but I know of a lot of albums that I'm really looking forward to that will hopefully be released this year. I'll probably be back in this thread towards the end of the year to update this list. So far, it's a match between FFS' debut and Alesana's Confessions for my AOTY, but I can't choose that yet until the last day of the year.

Updated list:

Alesana - Confessions (AOTY potential)
Nightwish - Endless Forms Most Beautiful (AOTY potential)
A Swarm of the Sun - The Rifts (AOTY potential)
FFS - FFS (AOTY potential)
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress
Belle and Sebastian - Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance
The Sword - High Country
Bullet For My Valentine - Venom
Ratatat - Magnifique (AOTY potential)
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp A Butterfly
The Decemberists - What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World

Unfortunately, a lot of the albums i've been looking forward to have either been a disappointment or have already come by. I'll be keeping an eye open for anything else that could make my list, but that's about it for right now. Not a whole lot has changed except for the fact that Nightwish's album is now in my AOTY potential, and big mentions to The Sword and Bullet For My Valentine for making very good albums. Ratatat's recent release also came into my AOTY potential category. Hoping to see something from pg.lost this year, but we'll see.
