When I was living in the city going to school Green River reminded me so much of home it'd make me tear up on occasion, which is pretty hilarious considering how much of an upbeat cheery song it is, but the lyrics do have an air of homesickness to them and the final verse always got to me. Those days I was counting down every day waiting to move back home.
Old Cody Junior took me over, Said, "You're gonna find the world is smould'rin'. And if you get lost come on home to Green River." Well, come home.
