Great One and Done Bands

You know the band that comes out with a pretty stellar album and then breaks up for what ever reason.

The two that jump out at me both feature Clapton:

Blind Faith

Derek and the Dominoes

Then there are a pair from the early punk era:

Minor Threat

Sex Pistols

What other "one and done"'s would you recommend checking out?

X-Ray Spex fell under this category until they got back together 20 or so years ago and released another album.

Aside from them Rites of Spring, too.

Very nice call on the Yesterday's Children album, Psy-Fi. One I've enjoyed for several years myself. I need to check a couple of those bands out.

The Lazy Smoke album I posted, is the re-issue, so it has added unreleased/demo tracks after the end of the album which (IMO) disrupt the flow of the music a bit. The original used to be on YouTube but it appears to have been removed.

Here are a couple more good ones I thought of after my previous post...

Blue Mountain Eagle - Blue Mountain Eagle (1970)

Dantalian's Chariot - Chariot Rising (1967)

The songs on the Dantalian's Chariot album were recorded in 1967 but the band broke up before they could release a debut album, so the actual album release date wasn't until 1996 on that one.

First album that comes to mind is The United States of America self-titled.

Another really solid one is Cromagnon for the level of weirdness they brought to the table. Theories that these gentlemen are The Residents are out there, but I don't believe them anymore since it doesn't match up geographically.

Negativa has members of Gorguts in it and only released a 3 track EP after one of their band members died

.

Not sure if they're done yet, but Lumbar makes some incredible ****. Interviews I've read made it sound like it was a one time thing.

Hermann Szobel made only one album when he was 18 years old and then completely disappeared from the world of music.
Pretty great zappaesque stuff.
