Has to be Lodger. Interesting to see what wins. Let's go team Scary Monsters!

I've never been able to get into Heroes to the same degree as the others, which I'm sure is an unpopular opinion. The title track is amazing, but off it goes.

When I first listened to that album, first tracks that stuck out for me were Joe The Lion and Blackout. Do you not even like those? And V-2 Schneider as well.

I like the eerie sound to Heroes. TSLOA is well out of place on it though, my only criticism.

& I think I posted it in the memorial thread but have you heard Helden?

I like the album; it's just not on the same level as the others imo. Beauty and the Beast, Neukoln, and Moss Garden stand out for me beside the title track, but they're just not as memorable as Warszawa, Fantastic Voyage, Ashes to Ashes, etc.

I haven't. About to change that.

It's funny how the timing with this thread is coinciding with the albums I'm playing in the car. Just finished all these albums and playing a Serious Moonlight bootleg from '83.

Anyway, with all of these records fresh in my mind Low and Station To Station definitely stay. Heroes and Lodger are patchy with virtually only the singles standing out, but I'm afraid I'm going against the grain and voting off Scary Monsters(!).
Reason being it has those two fantastic singles plus the terrific title track but stuff like 'It's No Game', Scream Like A Baby' and 'Teenage Wildlife' are a mess. IMO.

This is really difficult.
Heroes might be my favourite of those five, Station To Station comes very close. I suppose Scary Monsters, Lodger and Low are a little below those two, but still amazing.
I'll go with Lodger. It pains me, but voting off any of those is painful.

Still haven't heard Scary Monsters, but Lodger is sounding pretty bad right about now. Takes the less interesting parts of both Heroes and Low and shoves them on to one LP. Also, can we give our thoughts on Iggy Pop's The Idiot as an aside? It's a really excellent album that Bowie played a major role in.

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

I saw an interview yesterday with Iggy. He said the album credits his band but it's basically Bowie playing everything in overdubs.

Was that on that Sound & Vision documentary? Think I've seen it.

The Idiot is quality, Nightclubbing & Funtime are eerie as f*ck, can imagine being in some seedy part of Berlin listening to them. I heard Lodger before The Idiot so when I heard The Idiot I was pleasantly surprised to hear two tracks I recognised, I ended up preferring the original ones too tbh.

Scary Monsters is my fave so definitely check it. Pretty raw and messy in the same way as heroes, but his top tier avant pop and song writing is on show.
