It must suck when you can't just sit back and rock out

... Iiiii can. It's not like I think of the difference between punk and grunge every time I listen to one or the other. I just listen. But now that I'm not listening to either right now, I can immediately take what I know and separate the two.

It's like differentiating blackened death metal and black/death metal

No. It's not. Grunge is a form of alternative that takes influence from metal and punk, whereas punk got its roots in garage rock. The two are not the same thing at all. They go hand in hand often because grunge evolved from Seattle's local hardcore punk scene, but grunge's ideals and sound were just as much influenced from metal and alternative. You're basically saying the two are the same. So would that make Alice in Chains punk? Or Love Battery? No way. STP? Screaming Trees? Skin Yard?

Every one of your votes was considered to be delta blues, the only genre that matters here. If other artists are Piedmont blues, they were ALSO considered delta blues. Even Willie was considered Delta Blues on Discogs. I could not find ANYTHING to defend Elizabeth Cotten's case online. I checked all her albums, all the music sites I mentioned before on this thread, everything. No delta blues.

Blind Willie Mctell: Labelled as Delta blues on Discogs. Eligible.
Elizabeth Cotten. Not labeled as delta blues on any music website. Not eligible.

It doesn't matter if the others are piedmont or chicago, electric, acoustic, hill coluntry, . The fact remains the websites I checked considered them or at least an album they did (which is all that's needed to qualify) delta blues. Not Cotten. You can't defend them with the Piedmont tag if they were also considered delta blues.

I'll repeat myself. You can swap Elizabeth Cotten, or the vote doesn't count. Or you can find me a source on the internet that calls her delta blues (only music-specific websites, so no Wikipedia. Forum posts and user lists do not count), and I'll add that source's website to the list of websites I'll check, and she will count.
OK I thought I'll try to slip her in by calling her Mississippi Elizabeth Cotten, but there is no foolin' you. I hope you realize that I am not insisting she is Delta Blues. It's just that if you are going to include artist played mainly in other styles and the only redeeming qualification is that someone "tagged" as Delta Blues, then why not? You the one that seems to be taking issue about this, what's your angle here?

I think Elizabeth Cotten transcends labels cause he style is uniquely hers.

As a prog/fusion fan, I need to use progarchives to stay on top of new/obscure stuff instead of rym, because rym users are way too restrictive/uptight about genre labelling. It also doesn't help that rym disabled their pages that allow you to see every released tagged as a particular genre. Also, the more active users don't tend to be prog fans, so a lot of stuff gets missed, or at least there's a lag, and a lot of stuff doesn't get tagged at all. There are a lot of things I hate about rym, actually, including the personalities/attitudes of most of the dominant users, administrators, etc., but I still regularly use it to double-(and triple-etc.-)check discography info along with Wikipedia, discogs, progarchives, etc.

Fool me? Ha!
A: I check all votes except for the bands I already know fit the genre.
B: "it doesn't matter" was calling to me, "This is NeaPolly-Esther breaking testing me again." I couldn't even sense this was fooling me because what you said was a dead give away. I immediately assumed you tried to avoid delta blues musicians.
