I think this is as close to "most influential" and furthest from "personal favourite" that I can get. I didn't include Richard Dawson (the best freak folk artist) since his influence probably only extends to here, so I'm proud of myself for that.

Changed my vote from Banhart to Buckley because Buckley kicks way more ass.

... of course he does, it's his thread. So naturally he thinks his thread rules are LAWS!

I need to make sure the votes add up correctly, so I need the same number so I can make sure the votes add up to a divible of that number. Otherwise, it causes more complications. I screwed up the last one and had to retally.

Besides, I think this is a good way to discover new artists. But lets make the round after black metal something easy, like alternative. Black metal should be easy, too.

I don't know what you're talking about. That post was complete and utter sarcasm. You don't get punished for voting for the same guy over and over again, especially considering you knew I wouldn't count it in the first place.

Why do they need to be divisible by four? Don't you just tally up the votes? Are you saying to check that you have the votes in? This is unnecessary, don't tally votes until they are all in, and then just go through the thread and tally them all up. That's what I do.

But you deal with the same number of votes most of the time as well. You also set a maximum which people follow. Besides, I'm afraid I still make mistakes when tallying and I don't want to repeat long processes with tallying. Having a multiple to divide by immediately lets me know.

Also, I don't want to get a bunch of votes with one or two bands because we wouldn't get enough votes in.

Either have the nominations in a easy to see color like red or blue, or medium turquoise, or have a keyword "Jguy look here" that you can use the ctrl+f function search through each page. for example the hypothetically the noms for BM's big four are

Jguy look here:
  1. Venom
  2. Bathory
  3. Mercyful Fate
  4. Celtic Frost
