Not gonna pretend like I'm not an entitled asshat. It's far easier, cheaper, and more productive to go on a week-long downloading binge than an hour-long CD store splurge. That's pretty much killed any pretensions of "supporting the artists" that I might once have had. Proud thief.

You see, I'm the same way. I support the bands I listen to by buying t-shirts at the shows I see. I'm going like once a week at this point.

I hyper-rationalize my blatant thievery. I download ~100 album archives every few weeks, but I consider it research material to inspire actual purchases I otherwise never would have made. My bottom-line rationale is that my average spending is $1200 a year on music while the average American spends $57 on physical and digital media annually. I spend more than the next 21 consumers combined.



Based on my spending, I'm not the guy killing the industry.
