I don't approach it with that expectation. Stripped down and monotone isn't always bad.

I'm listening to a few other tracks from that album and I guess it's not bad.
I'll have to put aside my hatred of indie and give it a chance as a whole.

I would go as far as to say that a more musically interesting would lessen the impact of the album since you really have no choice but to listen to what he's saying. It works just as well when taken in as a collection of poems versus listening to the album too imo.

Like, it was getting hard to breath and there was a pile of tear-soaked tissues next to me. No song has ever had that effect on me.
*breathe

Hamilton as a whole takes me on a roller coaster ride, but this track especially.

I was feeling extra masochistic today, so I was watching scenes from Fire Walk With Me (it's a difficult thing for me to watch for various reasons) on youtube, and this Julee Cruise song destroyed me for a good 20 minutes or so:

Probably this. Partly because it reminds me of all the great Studio Ghibli films I watched growing up, but also reminds me of all the time I spent with my younger brother before he died suddenly two years ago. Strange how two different sets of things can coalesce into an association in one's mind...
