I like Everybody Hurts...:shycouch:

Son of JayJamJah 11-28-2008 04:20 PM

How about The Clash for London Calling or Rock the Cashba (sp?)

sweet_nothing 11-28-2008 04:22 PM

Replace London Calling with Should I Stay or Should I Go and I agree with you.

Fair enough, but London Calling is like the tenth best song on that album and it gets the most radio play.

FaSho 11-28-2008 04:50 PM

Really? It's one of my favorites on that album. Probably #5 or #6.

Son of JayJamJah 11-28-2008 04:52 PM

Even if it's that high for you, it's still over rated but I see your point, I'm not too keen of "SISOSIG" either.

lucifer_sam 11-28-2008 04:53 PM

I absolutely abhor a lot of the Stones' most popular songs (Satisfaction, Paint It Black among others) but I otherwise enjoy the albums they're on.

sweet_nothing 11-28-2008 04:53 PM

I think London Calling is pretty overrated its self, I strongly perfer their debut.

While i love Paint it Blacki would agree that songs like Satisfaction and Mother's little Helper are pretty overrated.

Astronomer 11-28-2008 04:55 PM

I like all of those Clash songs...

:shycouch:

But definitely agree that they are not the band's best.

Satisfaction for sure.

Was #2 song of all-time I think on the Rolling Stone list and it's not one of there 30 best in my opinion.

Yeah same and possibly even higher for me. It's just so apocalyptic and Strummer's howls are awesome!

not that its a bad song, its just when people say yes sucks and they have only heard that song it ****ing pisses me off.

Nothing pisses me off more than this. Seriously most people just assume they're a pop band because of this song.

Agreed, but...

This thread seems to be turning into a "this song is overrated" discussion. Let's be honest. As overplayed and mediocre/awful/merely good as some Stones songs may be (Paint It Black, Brown Sugar, Sympathy, Mother's Little Helper), they're far better than the crap they released on Dirty Work, Undercover, Black & Blue, etc.

And whatever you think of Should I Stay or Casbah or London Calling, the Clash have released stuff that's far worse. Even closet Sandanista! or Combat Rock fans will admit that there's some pretty lame stuff between those albums.

I'd love to nominate Hey Jude, but I can easily think of dozens of Beatles songs that are far worse.

Roygbiv 11-29-2008 06:57 AM

Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast

ugh - _ -

Guybrush 11-29-2008 07:16 AM

I agree very much regarding Owner of a Lonely Heart ..

I'd also like to mention "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder. I never liked that song.

This is exactly the way I feel about it .. Great song! :)

Akira 11-29-2008 08:00 AM

Why are people picking songs by bands that aren't their most well known, which aren't even there worst?

Can't any thread stay on topic?

How do you feel about Aardvark's?

Akira 11-29-2008 08:03 AM

I feel that they twisted popular perception about them so that people believed they were first in encyclopaedias. Don't trust aardvarks myself.

Lol.

Arthur is pretty cool, but his theme song is way overrated.

Venus and Bacchus by Saetia is definatley not their best song, and it's the one everybody knows. On topic enough?

Alfred 11-29-2008 09:03 AM

I disagree, it's probably my favorite Saetia song, despite its popularity.

Although "The Burden Of Reflecting" and "Postlapsaria" are up there. Now that I think about it, don't really know which song I like best.

FaSho 11-29-2008 09:40 AM

It's not their worst song by any means, but thanks to it being a free download it makes it their most popular when "Postlapasaria", "Some Natures Catch No Plagues" and "The Poet You never Were" are so much more deserving.

sleepy jack 11-29-2008 05:47 PM

Some Natures Catch No Plagues is without a doubt Saetia's most popular song. It's pretty dumb to argue otherwise, it's not their worst either but it's up there.

Buckethead - Jordan

Agreed .. -_-

He's such an amazingly productive artist. There's so much to choose from. Why did they put Jordan in GH3?

I disagree <_< Especially since hes been quoted as saying that it's the best thing he's recorded in his opinion. I don't agree with him either, but it's far from his worst.

toretorden: First, it was in GH2. And second, he specifically recorded the song for Guitar Hero.

Davey Moore 11-29-2008 06:48 PM

Led Zeppelin's worst song isn't Stairway to Heaven, but by god its mystique is totally ****ing undeserved.

Every song by KISS.

For some reason, every person I've met who doesn't know like any Beatles song associates them with Yellow Submarine and that pisses me off since I hate Yellow Submarine.

The only song by The Eagles I like is Desperado, and that's only a semi-like, but I despise Hotel California.

Rolling Stone seems to think Heroes is David Bowie's best song. I don't like Heroes.

Satisfaction is a mediocre song TBH. Let it Loose is my favorite Rolling Stones song.

All I can think of for now.

REM - Everybody Hurts (Hate it)
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody (7 mins of utter bollocks)
Pulp - Common People (Not a patch on the rest of their stuff)
Guns n Roses - November Rain (Hate hate hate overblown wank)
Black Sabbath - Paranoid (I think this song is average at best)

I don't know about 'worst', but overplayed to the point you want to kick the radio than yes I agree.

Pornographie Nouveau 11-29-2008 07:08 PM

Prefab Sprout's 'King of Rock and Roll'. Eughh.

Oh right .. He did? Dang.

Anyways, not all of Buckethead's stuff is easily accessible. I guess my tastes might be a little different from his. ;)

I'm also not a big fan of his Nottingham Lace which seems to be a popular one with fans. I do like songs like Soothsayer (very much!) and Final Wars (from Crime Slunk Scene and The Elephant Man's Alarm Clock respectively).

only_dancing 11-29-2008 07:53 PM

Stairway to Heaven. It's probably not Led Zeppelin's worst, but I really really don't like it.

That's because primary schools forced our generation to sing along to Yellow Submarine and Octopus' Garden with the rest of the class - while the former has been absolutely ravaged, the latter is still somewhat untarnished in my eyes.

I wonder if little kids will be chanting along to Souljah Boy in a couple of decades time? :(

But are they their most well known songs. Everytime I talk to people that supposedly "listen to Maiden," they start talking about how "cool" number of the beast is, and how it's about the devil.

Well no ****ing **** sherlock. :banghead:

Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back In Town.

Average song, nothing spec, plenty of better Lizzy songs.

Sister Ray 11-29-2008 11:26 PM

REM - Everybody Hurts.. already mentioned, but awful

Rolling Stones - Satisfaction... painful.

FireInCairo 11-30-2008 12:42 AM

Already mentioned but what exactly is good about Black Sabbath's paranoid??
