it's a date

Zhanteimi 07-05-2017 05:29 PM

I'm looking forward to checking out several of the albums you guys have listed!

Here's my top 10 so far....

10. Richard Dawson - Peasant (Avant-Folk, Progressive Folk)

My favorite of his so far.

09. Fleet Foxes - Crack-Up (Chamber Folk, Progressive Folk)

Was so happy to hear a new one from them.

08. Exquirla - Para quienes aún viven (Post-Rock, Flamenco nuevo)

Their debut.

07. Flotation Toy Warning - The Machine That Made Us (Chamber Pop, Indie Pop)

This is great, though I like their first one a tad bit more.

06. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Murder of the Universe (Psychedelic Rock, Spoken Word)

Their best so far, in my opinion.

05. Nova Collective - The Further Side (Progressive Metal, Jazz Fusion)

Their debut, at least working together.

04. Mike Oldfield - Return to Ommadawn (Progressive Rock)

This and the original are D&D music.

03. Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell Live (Art Pop, Indie Folk, Singer/Songwriter)

This would be my AOTY except for two reasons: (a) it's a live album of what is probably for me the 2015 AOTY, and (b) "Hotline Bling".

02. Ayreon - The Source (Progressive Metal, Rock Opera)

Epic. What I love most about this is that they take the robot with them!

01. Sufjan Stevens, Bryce Dessner, Nico Muhly & James McAlister - Planetarium (Art Pop, Ambient Pop, Indietronica)

Love everything about this.

Billy Woods never left faggots. Could be my fave hip hop release so far.

Frownland 07-06-2017 12:13 PM

Hells yes my man. Been on heavy rotation since it came out, probably his strongest solo work since History.

Me down for that heart-to-heart that started with: "Where do I start"
Not my first rodeo, we can skip this part do not pass go

Nameless with a thousand faces, job description;
Be not where the missiles fall

That's ****ing brilliant no doubt

OccultHawk 07-11-2017 01:58 PM

Scribble by Esham is probably a lot better than most hip hop fans might expect

Goofle 07-11-2017 03:58 PM

lulz I made the Ace post just for the Goofle triggers and succeeded in ways I didn't predict.

Goofle 07-11-2017 04:44 PM

I knew you would think the Aes part triggered me. It's actually just because Woods is black.

Frownland 07-11-2017 04:47 PM

Forest fires are nothing to joke about.

I'm gonna email that to him. Maybe the connection will show up in a one loner and I'll be considered woods' ghost writer.

Fhloston Paradigm
After...

On the latest from his sci-fi-leaning project Fhloston Paradigm, the renowned Philadelphia producer King Britt shows a more vulnerable side, collaborating with Moor Mother, Nosaj Thing, and others.

Arto Lindsay
Cuidado Madame

Quote:

On the former DNA guitarist’s first album in 13 years, Arto Lindsay conjoins abstract noise and tropicália, clamor and glamour, into something unusually beautiful and distinctly his own.

Frownland 07-11-2017 05:05 PM

Hopefully it's better than Crime Waves (it'll probably just be one feature anyway).

I was rather unimpressed by this frankly.

Frownland 07-11-2017 05:50 PM

It's a cool album. Good to know that other musicians appreciate Fire! Orchestra as much as I do.

I've heard bits and pieces and have been very disappointed. In my list of **** to listen to but I'm not in a huge hurry.

Lana Del Rey - Lust For Life

https://images.genius.com/f991b1a6b8...000x1000x1.jpg

Her new album which came out today features artists such as A$AP Rocky, Playboi Carti, Stevie Nicks and Sean Ono Lennon.
My personal favourites are Get Free, God Bless America and Tomorrow Never Came (ft. Sean Ono Lennon).

So there's lots of different sounds, very versatile.

I only listened to it because people kept saying how amazing it is.
It sounds amazingly much like a PJ Harvey record.

Goofle 07-22-2017 03:32 AM

I didn't know it existed. Shall peep.

MicShazam 08-04-2017 03:54 PM

2017 hasn't been mindblowing for me as far as new music goes, but I do have a list of no less than 28 albums I'm interested in, so the year is going to look better to me eventually.

Thus far, the best albums of 2017 for me are easily these two:

https://static.qobuz.com/images/cove...415537_600.jpghttp://en.bontonland.cz/image.php?im...375&height=375

Frownland 08-04-2017 03:58 PM

I find it very inspiring that you don't judge albums by their covers.

The new Zeena Parkins album is probably her best album not involving Ikue Mori.
