Anything by Norah Jones. In high school, our dance teacher would always play it during warm-ups and it drove me crazy.

I hate this song. It makes me want to launch myself into an active volcano.

Ugh Norah Jones for sure. After I've started listening to various vocal jazz divas, it's become very clear just how bland Norah is. If I ever have trouble sleeping, she'd probably do the trick. It's jazz for people who absolutely have no interest in jazz whatsoever.

EDIT:
Here's an example of a song in a similar style to a lot of what Norah Jones did in the beginning, but way more charismatic and, you know, not boring.

I don't belong in a thread like this, as I'm sure everyone would say about 99 percent of what I listen to would qualify, by your standards. Huge Springsteen fan. QED. But just ftr, the story about "Because the night" goes that Springsteen was recording it and Smith and her band were in a studio next door, heard it and robbed it. Her version ended up doing a lot better than his, which I'm sure pissed him off no end.

I find them a pretty boring band though. Their debut was so disappointing to me since they had these great melodies and this great aesthetic, but at the same time, the singer was just a really weak version of a young King Diamond, without any of the vocal power. I wanted to like Ghost, but they fell flat from the start for me.

Their other albums just moved even further away from what little I liked about them in the first place.

I should have posted these guys first, because they really define the thread. Take Mastodon's sound and make it into the most forgettable music you can find.

i like baroness and ghost both quite a bit

i think bands like diiv and the rest of the urban outfitter-core dream pop scene are perfect for this thread. most people i talk to agree that all of the bands in the scene sound the same, but i guess that's what they like about it. it's like shoegaze if shoegaze totally lost any and all balls.

We all have our flaws.

I'm starting to lose interest in Ghost. They used to just grab me with their sound but nowadays I'm finding it hard to justify spinning any of their albums. Baroness are still great though.

Yep. There was a time when they got a whole lot of praise around these parts, I never understood why.
