Its not anything to be ashamed of persay. One should at least own it if it's true though

I don't hate Bon Jovi. I rather like some of his stuff tbh. I just find it hilarious to listen to him seriously.

As my current avatar would indicate, I like boring music too.

Totally into this album of hers right now:

I know you're into Carole King, so I wonder if you've heard her "comeback" album from the 80s, City Streets? It's totally amazing for a songwriter of her age to still be putting out this kind of magic.

As far as classical, well you can't go wrong with the greats: Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak, Liszt and so on. I'm really fond of Rachmaninoff and of course then there's Holst's epic The Planets Suite, which if you haven't heard, you have heard some of without knowing it. Like this:
Spoiler for my computer is choking on all these vids:

and this

Folk is not generally my thing, though you can't diss Woody Guthrie. I'm fond of this guy too, god rest his soul
I've never really listened to either Rachmaninoff , Dvorak, Holst, Guthrie or Fogelberg. I'm going to check all of them out. Mozart and Beethoven didn't really grab me any of the times I've tried to get into them so far, but never say never.

You should listen to all of those things except for Fogelberg.

Oh, and since you like Schoenberg you should check out Morton Feldman.

No I haven't gotten quite that far yet. I've bought her albums almost chronologically, so I've got a few to go before I get to this one.

I'm listening to the embedded track now and it certainly is a different style than what I'm used to from her. I love the nuances she brings to her music, so I might very well still like it despite it being a type of music I'm normally not quite taken with. If I like the vibe of an album, then I stop worrying about what musical style it is and just float along.

Really?

Also, if you're going for Fogelberg I recommend Nether Lands, Phoenix, The Innocent Age and Souvenirs among others. For Woody you need to hear (if you don't already know it) "This land is your land". Stirring.

Allright he goes on the list too. I could use more classical in that vein.
