Unless you've been listening to ONLY 10 artists for an entire decade then that is completely useless. I'm only entertaining the notion that my ten artists will satisfy me for decades on end, but this is a question that is likely pointless to answer.

Competition is more of a threat than burnout imo.

Not when you have 10 artists to listen to for, how old are you? Early 20s? So assuming a normal lifespan you'd be listening to these 10 artists, and only these 10 artists, for around 60 years. TBH to think that you could expect to still like those artists after all that time, not only speaks to a complete lack of imagination, but a complete arrogance of your current musical tastes. To be perfectly honest I feel that after that long I'd want to strangle Kerry King with his own intestines just to get the sound of "Angel of Death" out of my head. I'd probably have been banging coconuts together exclusively for at least four decades at that point.

I agree that Mozart is one of the classical artists that poseurs will mention to make it seem as if they know classical, along with the likes of Beethoven and, I don't know, maybe Tchaikovsky? But I think we all know Occult enough to believe he is not choosing Wolfgang to be cool. He's obviously a Mozart fan, and that's ok in my book.

Perhaps the better comparison might be 10 directors?

I agree. Why choose 10 artists you might end up hating and be stuck with? I'm Trollheart, pleased to meet you: my chosen ten artists could easily sustain me till I was rescued, or a stray nuke hit the island. Is that the SS Frownland out there I see?

We're all taking a **** of a chance that we're gonna like those artists in all those decades. Might as well take a chance on some **** we aren't familiar with. Otherwise you might well find yourself in twenty years with albums you can't stand cause you weren't willing to admit to yourself that maybe, just maybe, you wouldn't feel about Converge the same way you felt when you were 20.
Hi, I'm Trollheart: pleased to meet you.

At least you could use Kerry King's solos to shake the coconuts down from the trees.

Your welcome douchebag.

I think the more pertinent question is, when do we start looking at coconuts as a form of sexual release?

I don't know, but I'm sure you'll make me bash my brains out with one no matter how semen-stained it might be.
