You know what would make this thread of the year?

If Chula linked to his Joe Pass project but instead of really doing it he rickrolled me.

I would not listen to either for more than five minutes unless there was money involved. That said, Frown sounds like someone who picks up a guitar once a year or so for a whole day. Chula sounds like some who actually cares about the instrument they're playing.

I haven't heard a lot from Chula, but he seems like a guitar player with a lot of chops but some imagination and Frownland sounds like a guitar playing some chops but a lot of imagination. Frownland is filled with piss and vinegar, his playing is like one half Jägermeister one half Goldschläger - which is the recipe for a Screaming Nazi icydk. Chula's playing is egg nog without rum. Yeah it is thick and creamy and all of that but can't get a buzz from it.

Yeah I'm not sure if san diego avante-garde really does it for me. And Chula's way too dad rock. So I went with anal beads.

They become the music equivalent of the Odd Couple. One very neat and orderly guitar player get kick out of his house after a divorce to live with a longtime internet frenemy and perennial sloppy musician. Can two grown musicians live in an apartment without driving each other crazy?
