Not that this would matter to you cause you can't differentiate his style from the style of those artist you mentioned. The only comparison i see is that they're in the same genre.

De La Soul broke major ground.

If y’all understood hip hop at all you would realize you’re basically saying is the White Stripes are better than the Stooges.

It’s well done but it doesn’t break any ground. Is Peter Brotzman better than Pharoah Sanders?

These i know and hell no! I'm certainly not saying that, i don't like the white stripes much in fact. Dude you were the one that made this sht a competition coming in with "oh Wu tang and De La Soul" ofc those guys are great im just saying DOOM is great too.

And if you want to talk about breaking new ground, This album was very influential. Mos Def even bought the Vinyl just cause he related so much with the cover.

There's also some vids of Odd Future turning into fanboys when they met DOOM. There's plenty of videos ppl suckin DOOM and Dilla's duck.

OccultHawk 05-03-2018 06:43 AM

It’s not that it’s bad but Mos Def and DLS like it because it pays tribute

I know that Odd Future likes it too and that’s a better argument

OF did something significant to build on it though

That’s why OF, especially Tyler and Earl are far more important artists

Exactly. Most everyone here knows their guitar bands and what’s what

Hip hop? It’s a lot murkier around here

It soumds like you just don't want people to expand and develop on ideas once someone comes out with them. If that's the case, we should just stop making jazz because Coltrane happened.

This has aged a lot better than Deltron imo. Tribe and Wu still hold up though. Have you ever appreciated more than one artist at the same time?

I also like Brötzmann more than Pharoah Sanders but love Pharoah to death.

Black Francis 05-03-2018 07:57 AM

So now i get to debate DOOM is better than OF. :D
Short answer is.. Yes.

But DOOM is a better rapper. I don't listen to Earl but i do listen to Tyler and while he is good DOOM has got a better pen. Well, that all depends i guess. DOOM is way more subtle than Tyler and has whittier analogies but Tyler goes for the shock value. One of his rhymes that stuck with me goes "Goddamn I love bitches, Especially when they only suck dick and wash dishes" so if you're into that in your face sht over clever penmanship you might prefer Tyler.

Also in terms of impact in hip hop, OF and Tyler gained alot of popularity through their videos while DOOM never really made shocking videos like them. He certainly doesn't have a stronger visual presentation than them but then again he doesn't need it cause his music alone carries his cred.

Frownland 05-03-2018 08:07 AM

Listen to Earl dude, he took the torch. When it comes to Earl v DOOM it's a wash imo.

I was worried you might say that.

To me it sounds like you think people who are really just dickriding are leading the way.

Btw, I don’t disrespect what you’re saying about Brotzmann.

Frownland 05-03-2018 08:42 AM

Must be out of your scope or something. Sad!

Post Nas that’s irrelevant. That’s a Stevie Ray Vaughn argument.
