Uriah Heep- Abominog (1982)

Best Tracks: Too Scared To Run, Chasing Shadows, Prisoners

Weakest Tracks: Hot Night in a Cold Town, Running All Night (With the Lion)

I do have some familiarity with this band as they had a hit with Easy Living in 1972. I also remember really liking The Magician’s Birthday. It starts off in kind of a headbanging fashion and Chasing Shadows sounds like vintage Heep. It tails off though and begins to sound like the typical metal fare of the early Eighties. Hot Night in particular sounds like it could have been recorded by Loverboy. That may be a little extreme but basically, outside of the first two tracks in particular, they sound like just about any metal band of the period trying to score their big hit. It could be worse though. At least they don’t sound like Motley Crue (bat attack pending )

5/10 (the Word has spoken )

I had the worst hangover of my life because of the Crue. If they bought a school bus they could have passed as the heavy metal version of the Partridge Family. You can listen to Girls Girls Girls alongside Metal Machine Music and not being able to tell the difference. Otherwise, I like them a lot

NOTE TO BAT: Ori paid me to say that
