I could see that. There aren't any records from that time that sound like Black Monk Time, but its sound is more or less tied to that era.

If you liked Broken English, you might also dig this.
Most of those were blocked in my region. But I've heard the album before, even owned it. That being in past tense would tell you that I didn't love it. Broken English got me interested in her music where this and A Secret Life failed. Coming back to a couple of these songs, I think I might actually be able to change my mind about Before the Poison. A Secret Life, however, just comes off as kinda awkward to me. Angelo Balamenti works better for soundtracks in weird Lynch movies than as a backdrop for serious, mature pop songs. I do kind of find her musical choices in general to be questionable. I think going through her discography is gonna be a bit rough for me.
