To be honest you are asking the wrong person.
I wasn't into it when I was growing up, it was just there like a lot of music, metal rock hip hop disco punk classical opera electronic trance reggae pop.
I was exposed to different types of music. But what captured my ears was Irish music I was fascinated by it, and I was trying to listen to different cultures musician when I had my first last.fm account. I have been in a song contest online on last.fm LSC = last.fm song contest it was a group, the group went to Facebook since the changes in 2015, I joined there two years ago, I have created a YouTube playlist of my submissions, I will try to update it and share it has a bit of different styles but not a lot.
I will try to get you recommendations on Ethiopian music.

Don't worry, it's really cool that you developed a fascination with Irish music, I'm happy with anything you recommend

Not all are Irish music.
It's a mix.
One song is missing from the playlist because it was deleted.
Wonderwall by Metome

Here is the album from bandcamp.

Listen to Os Papaqueixos (name of the band) - O Rabisaco (the name of the song)

Here is another one is missing I have added the full album version because the single is a private video.

I will try to find the recommendations, I need my laptop for this, on my phone it's difficult. Hopefully tomorrow.

awesome, thanks!

If you want you can join the group. If you have last.fm or much better Facebook. You can meet other people and listen to what they are listening even if you don't like the music it's nice to be exposed to different things.

I don't have last fm and honestly I think one internet music group is all I can handle (at least for now), but thanks for letting me know, I'll keep it in mind!

Fire, a few Irish ones you may not (or may) be aware of...

My favourite of hers:

The great Clannad

Planxty

Moving hearts

Ireland's favourite son Christy Moore

I know all (except the first one) of them but I will check them.
Thanks :)
You can recommend different things I will try it and give feedback.

I liked Rita Connolly very much I will check her more tonight.
Davy I know and this particular piece, I have a CD collection called cry of the celts 2002 and it's there.
Mary I also know, no frontiers is nice but I liked the corrs version more, the second song was a bit boring.
Clannad I know, I didn't get into their music to be honest.
Planxty I also know, they were ok, I always preferred the bothy band more.
Moving hearts I have heard of but didn't listen yet, an ok song not sure if I like their sound.
Christy I know I don't know if I actually listened to him this song is ok a bit slow.

Trollheart 12-26-2020 10:03 AM

Ok let's see what we can do about that.

Mary Black

A faster Christy song

What about some rebel songs

Ireland has a wealth of music, from trad (traditional folk) and rock to (god help us) country and pop, so I guess it would be helpful to know the kind of stuff you prefer.
