Are you suggesting people at MusicBanter are going to think less of me?

You should take a look in the mirror and think less of yourself.

I told you to take my picture off your wall. It is an unsanctioned altar.

Seriously though, the one person on here I would be sad if they hated me is Marie, not cause she’s the mod but cause she seems the type of kind, geekily cool person who would really get along with me at first and then, upon learning that I just may be a kind of a dick, would be disappointed and barely acknowledge me at the cafeteria.
Oh don't worry, I like you, I'm not that easily repelled by kind-of-dickish behaviour per se. I'd totally awkwardly wave at you at the cafeteria. Actually I usually like people more the better I get to know them.

Stravinsky died in '71, brother. And his death hasn't improved his music.
I'm very far from beginning to understand the premises behind this and have very little interest in having them explained, so let's just leave it at that.

Do I think we'll ever see an end to musical innovation? No.

But it seems to me that it will be more gradual tweaks and further developments of ideas that were broached before than anything profoundly unusual or more or less unprecedented. The problem is simply that there was so much experimentation especially from the later 1800s through the 1980s or so that it's very difficult to think of something radically different that hasn't been done before in some guise.

"Stomp clap hey" was probably the last distinct (at least guitar based) movement/genre to develop in the last 20 years.

I guess what I feel is happening is not so much the end of new things being created in music, which is more difficult to imagine given the infinite amount of permutations music can go through, but distinct genres/movements. Which kind of makes sense since they were in any case a rather recent invention (maybe the past 60-100 years?).
