I was just in Bahston. It was just for one night though. Those tunnels are pretty cool.

As a matter of civil engineering, and how much it gave back to residents in terms of walking around and commercial areas - absolutely.

Rush hour? Stuck in that tunnel? 4th layer of hell.

It was a fairly smooth commute, actually.

Indie rock was poppin here in the 90s w the Veldt and Archers of Loaf and Superchunk

A few really big jazz musicians (John Coltrane, Thelonius Monk) were born here.

Also, bluegrass

Quite a lot actually

Though I’m not sure whether you’ll be familiar with any of it

Stanisław Grzesiuk

„Don’t play a smarty with a varsovian”
A Warsaw based bard from the 1950s

Kult

A new wave/auteur band formed in Warsaw in the 80s

Oddział Zamknięty („Locked Ward/Closed Unit”)

A short-lived cult pop rock band

Michał Urbaniak
A jazz saxophone and violin player, best known to the world as the violin player on Miles Davis’ „Tutu”

Łąki Łan

A rock/electronic funk band formed in Warsaw in the 2000s

Perfect

A „Classic rock” polish band formed in 1980

Those are the ones that came to my mind just now

There’s probably 10 times more of the bad stuff, so why bother mentioning

I recently found out Matchbox Twenty was from Orlando, which was pretty cool.

Polish bands/performers I grew up listening to (off the top of my head) …

Czesław Niemen

Osjan

Laboratorium

SBB

Krzysztof Komeda

Michał Urbaniak (he has sooooo many great albums -
both solo and with others, incl. his ex-wife…):

Urszula Dudziak

Tomasz Stańko

Zbigniew Namysłowski

and I was on a double bill with Zbigniew Karkowski once,
but I think he may be from Krakow instead (?)

I have box sets of many of these artists.

my city has contributed more to music lore than it has music itself. like that time smashmouth got bread thrown at them, ol dirty bastard played his last show here, and hopsin had some mental breakdown here and even made a song about it. those are all I can come up with off the top of my head but it's nothing too crazy lol
