LINKIN PARK- LIVING THINGS

First of all, I have to confess I’m not much of a Linkin Park fan. For one thing, they remind me of a band I especially despise, Limp Bizkit. Still, as a loyal member of the club, I feel committed to give it at least a listen, so here we go…

I think the album starts with the single from the album, Lost in the Echo. Not too bad as far as what pretends to be alternative rock these days. In My Remain is listenable and Burn It Down is even a bit melodic. But then it gets into its noise rock for want of a better description. I also hate what I call the emo tyle of singing that seems to be popular in Alt Rock, or at least 21st century Alt Rock anyway. That’s what I’m noticing especially on I’ll Be Gone.

We get a break of sort with the western tinged Castle of Glass. It’s surprising to see Linkin Park go off the formula for a track but maybe they get tired of playing the same thing sometimes too. Then back to the screaming (Victimized).

Then there is Roads Untraveled. I actually like this track. It has a nice melody and again, surprising given the source. There are parts of Skin and Bone I like as well. Until It Breaks, not so much, sort of a reggae meets rap type of track, not really my speed. It does finish off okay with Powerless.

So, it wasn’t as bad as I had feared. They are capable of playing music obviously unlike, say, the likes of Fred Durst and company. Certainly not an album I’ll be listening to in the future, but considering that I’m something of an old fogey these days, not too bad. At least it isn’t awful.

5/10 (The Word has spoken )

Vox - From Spain to Spain
Not really a fan of this album at all. I try to get into every album but this is just too far much church music. Or classical type, which I know nothing about and don't listen to because I don't vibe with it. Even for chilling out on my bed this stuff just doesn't vibe, there are lyrics but it's so slow and not good to me. I feel stupid not being able to enjoy classical music but I would much listen to something else. "While the birds sing" this song at least has a drum beat but it's still far from my vibing that I can't really enjoy it.

The cover art is cool but that's all I am vibing on for this album, I'd rather not go on typing a bunch of stuff on an album I don't like.

Linkin Park - Living Things
I nomm'ed this album so I won't go on typing about how much I love it. For me, this album is a great progression in sound for the band. This album was so dance/techno/house vibing that the band made a dubstep/remix album for this album called 'Recharged', which is one of my favorite albums of all time. The way Linkin Park was able to make an album that sounded different than their previous albums was cool I thought. I bought the CD for my car because I liked it that much, all the songs vibe well for me and gives a type of sound I can listen to as an adult compared to Linkin Park's first albums that had that 2000s rap rock sound. This album sounds so different than Hybrid Theory or Meteroa but still has rap and screaming lyrics to it. Overall this album is an amazing album and that is why I picked it for this thread. Every song is perfect and it's an album that has been the #1 for me so far in 2023 and it's over 10 years old now.

8.88/10

I love your screenshots, Mindy! Is that alien posable? It would be so cool to have him mirror your thumb: arm up when he likes some album, arm down when not. Or maybe you could position him to the right for good, left for bad, or facing good, away bad, something like that. Love that little guy!

I got that alien in Minnesota in 2013, it was being placed around in different places around the office and I just took it home finally one day lol

His name is Roger, like the alien in the American Dad cartoon...

Agreed! One of the albums I discovered from reading this forum and it blew me away. Should be more legendary than OK Computer.

Say hi everyone to Janszoon, who has joined us!

Jansz, I'm sure you'll be a regular contributor to and valued member of the club, but as per the rules I've put you in as an Associate Member. All that means is that you need to participate in two album reviews before you can nominate one and become a full member. It's just to stop people who shall remain nameless but have something to do with ruling small flying reptiles coming in, nominating their album, reviewing it and then ****ing off and never taking part again. True story. Sorry, I don't make the rules, I just make them.

Welcome!
