I just don't get it. It's not as if he doesn't like aggressive music, and metal isn't a small genre. If he didn't like Polka, or whatever the **** joanna newsom is/was doing, ok sure. And to like Prog but not metal.

I smell posturing.

The fact this thread about Noel Gallagher got hijacked into a discussion about progressive rock is really funny.

Melt is one of my favorite albums of all time, I'd probably take it over any Genesis album if I'm being honest.

I'm gonna continue the Peter Gabriel appreciation train (partially because he rules, and partially because I have about as much to say about Noel Gallagher's list as anyone has anything new to say about any of those bands he listed in 2023, i.e. nothing)

But Melt is a masterpiece and I like Security just as much, if not more. Some insanely creative sound design on that album as well. Not many art/pop/rock albums reach the level of those two.

I'd definitely agree, though I have a lot of love for Scratch and I think Us is my favourite of his, let's say, more commercial, post-So albums, ie when people stopped asking "Peter who?" and started saying, "Oh, yer man with "Sledgehammer"! Yeah OMG I love that song!" His later ones, from Up onwards, could not get into at all.

Oh, and can we have some appreciation for the underrated, understated masterpiece that is Ovo, please?
