Hot Cross

I searched through four pages of stuff and I couldn't find a thread on them. One of my favorite bands ever at the moment, check 'em out.

Is every band that you post about "your favorite band at the moment"?

sleepy jack 03-09-2006 08:30 PM

Considering my tastes changes quite a bit and I usually have a different favorite album daily. Yes.

IamAlejo 03-10-2006 04:54 AM

Such good music. I wanna see them live though.

Electric Ocean 03-10-2006 08:32 AM

It sucks that they don't have the two guitars anymore though, that was one of the factors that made them so cool.

Rabid Sea Turtles 03-10-2006 09:03 AM

Link is blocked at school...blast.

riseagainstrocks 03-11-2006 09:03 AM

Hey everyone. We have now written almost 10 songs to record for our new record which will be out in October. Ideally we would like to enter the studio with 14 or 15 and choose 11 for the LP.

We had originally said that we would be recording with Kurt Ballou up at God City Studios. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we had to change our recording plans. We are now recording with Mike Hill in New York City. Mike was in the band Anodyne, is now in the band Matamoros and recorded the demo tracks you hear up on our Myspace page. He is an old friend of ours, so we are excited to get into the studio with him in June.

At present, the working title for the LP is Risk Revival. Again, look for that in October to be accompanied by touring in the Fall.

Thanks to Cursed and Mikoto, with whom we shared some stages a couple of weekends ago. All the shows were fun and we were stoked to play new material live.

We have some shows coming up. April 8, we are playing at our favorite haunt, ABC No Rio in NYC with Marigold. On May 14, we will be in Harrisburg, PA at Championship Records and on May 21, we will be in Kingston, PA. Please come out to those shows if you want to check out what we have been writing and/or to mosh with us.

Please keep in touch and thanks for being patient. It really has taken us 3 years to get our **** together enough to release another full length. We think it will be worth your time.

Thanks
Billy

Yippee.

I've come across these guys a lot lately and what I've heard I like a lot. What albums are recommended?

I like Cryonics best, also check out Saetia "A Retrospective" they're similar to them, except (IMO) better. I can also send you some of their albums I have, "Cryonics", "Fair Trades and Farewells", "Hot Cross Lickgoldensky [Split]", "A New Set Of Lungs EP", and "Self Released Demo".

Rabid Sea Turtles 06-09-2006 08:35 PM

I listened to the songs on their myspace and really liked what I heard. Could you hook me up with one of their better albums?

sleepy jack 06-09-2006 08:37 PM

Yes, give me like half an hour though.

Rabid Sea Turtles 06-09-2006 08:41 PM

Alright, thanks.

bungalow 06-09-2006 08:42 PM

Dude, I have an album.
I'll let you borrow it.

Trauma 06-09-2006 11:13 PM

xcult_classicx 12-04-2006 07:27 PM

i love these dudes, and good thing the Saetia dude doesn't sound like a chicken anymore!

Trauma 12-06-2006 08:06 PM

:(

He never sounded like a chicken!
Saetia>>Hot Cross

xcult_classicx 12-06-2006 10:25 PM

awww, dude, i love Saetia, but unfortunately, the first track i heard from them was Venus And Bacchus, that's why it kinda sunk it that the dude sounded like a chicken. :D

i don't care if it's chickeny, it has a lot of character. :P
in Hot Cross, the character is still there, minus the chicken.

Desired_Moments 12-07-2006 08:12 AM

Not really my sort of thing, the guitarist sounds good though.

kevinpunx 12-09-2006 02:23 AM

is hot cross going to have a new album?

swim 12-09-2006 05:14 AM

...eventually.

Their album was supposed to be out during the fall, but then they went back in the studio and it's coming out early next year now.

Only in terms of how influential they were. Hot Cross are by far more talented.

chickendude 12-09-2006 06:48 PM

I think Hot Cross is kinda boring.

still a lot more talented. I don't see how they could be boring though. Especially live.

chickendude 12-09-2006 09:21 PM

I saw them with Ampere / Das Oath and they were my least favorite of the three. They are talented, just with that lineup I had hoped for a lot better stuff.

Decoy 12-13-2006 03:30 AM

god damn figure eight is a great song
