As far as whining, dead, male idiots go, you can't beat a bit of Jeff Buckley to represent emo's formative years.

What, Price Wonderland? doesn't have the freshest sound but they're easily putting out the best music. Plus Joe Caithness is one of the most knowledgable people on the obscure emo scene and amazingly nice.

It warms my heart to know that those with learning deficiencies are given internet access.

When I was 15 I liked some music that today I would categorize as "all kinds of terrible" The real point, though, is that around that time I got busy soaking up all the information I could from people who were older than I was, and who turned me on to good music. If I would have disregarded all of their opinions, I'd have lacked the groundwork of knowledge necessary to discover all sorts of amazing bands once my tastes matured.
