Wah, this thread is off to a rocky start.

La Dispute's latest album, Wildlife, is my top release from 2011. The vocals have improved significantly, but the storytelling on this album is just immense. The three vignettes in the middle, "King Park", "Edward Benz, 27 Times", and "I See Everything" have consistently brought me to the verge of tears.

I'm the exact same. I might go as far as to say "King Park" is the best example of storytelling in a song I have ever heard. But that could be an exaggeration.

Listened to that King Park song, holy smokes the ending is ridiculously intense.

King Park is really good. It was the first song from the album I heard.

So I got the album and listened to the rest of the songs. They're all just as good. "I See Everything" is just so ****ing heartbreaking.

Having now listened to Wildfire, the lyrics and emotion conveyed in each track is ****ing intense.
The vocals are so powerful and heart wrenching.

Kings Park especially, with the ending rhetoric of 'Can I still Get into Heaven If I Kill Myself' being somewhat disturbing.

The album of the whole is probably the most sincere release I've heard this year, with everything striking hard of the harsh side of reality, and really showing what emotional music as a genre can be.

Would have to administer it with a gold star rating.

I sound like such a prick in the first page of this thread.

To be fair, I need to listen to Wildlife. I've heard nothing but good things about it and I may end up liking it a lot more than their debut.

I think you'd like it Alfred. The singer is pretty annoying on the first album, but he sounds a lot better now. I also think it's somewhat of an exposure effect; the more you listen to him, the better he sounds.

Yeah, it was mostly the singer that threw me off on the first album. He sounded just ridiculous. I'll listen to the new album now I think.
