I dig them. Can't wait for their tour in February.

As was stated earlier, went out on a limb and listened through this record and I really enjoyed it. The story telling painted such clear mental images, it was like I was watching a film.

I'm trying to broaden my musical horizon by looking into the more arty (is that even the right word?) side of hardcore, which is what brought me to La Dispute. The newest Touch Amore release was really good and I'm looking for similar bands- I've heard Skin Like Iron and Defeater are quite good but I haven't had a chance to listen yet. Any suggestions?

You would probably like Defeater if you like Touche Amore and La Dispute... they're quite a bit heavier but the same emotive, "arty" style. Empty Days And Sleepless Nights from 2011 is a good album.

The songwriting on Wildlife(especially "King Park") is incredibly clumsy imo. The stories they try to get across are cool in theory, but seem really scrambled in practice. I really like the album, though.

"Said the King to the River", off their first LP, is gnarly. My favorite track alongside "Future Wars".

I'm still trying to decide if I like this band or not.
They're sort of like a ... guilty pleasure. Sometimes I feel like the songwriting is clumsy as well, but the execution is so great that on the other side I don't want to care about that and just enjoy the raw - almost teenage - emotions they carry.

You consider La Dispute a 'guilty pleasure' ****, what are you into haha?
They're not exactly a band to be embarrassed by admitting you like, unless you are a diehard metalhead or something.

No, I know, their "ethics" aren't bad considering their success, there's nothing to be ashamed about, but I feel like they're talking to my teenage-self more than to my actual tastes and judgement that have evolved since. If I'd known them when I was a bit younger they would definitely have been my favorite band, but I dunno, now it feels like a guilty pleasure haha.

I think they have put into music what I was looking to accomplish as a musician 5 or so years back. But since, my tastes and goals have moved on... Don't know if it makes any sense.
