Okay, here's some modern hardcore stuff I like.

Defeater - Lost Ground
Pianos Become The Teeth - The Lack Long After/ Saltwater
The Saddest Landscape - After The Lights
Suis La Lune - Riala
La Dispute - Somewhere At The Bottom Of The River Between Vega And Altair/ Wildfire

All albums are awesome in my opinion, but I've bolded the essential ones.

Cool. Got some homework for tomorrow. Look forward to checking them out.

Yes thanks. Will be checking those out too. Just couldn't multi quote from my iPod but that reply was meant for both of you :)

I'd say the metal recommendations thread would be the place to ask about thrash, but that said, and assuming you're already familiar with Metallica's classic thrash albums, here's a few thrash albums I highly recommend:

Slayer—Reign in Blood (if you haven't already heard it for some reason)
Sodom—Agent Orange
Death Angel—The Ultra-Violence
Kreator—Pleasure to Kill
Morbid Saint—Spectrum of Death

Thanks for those Janszoon. I'm not that familiar with the Metallica catalogue and I hadn't actually heard the Slayer before so Reign in Blood was a nice intro it seems. I also liked the Morbid Saint. Had that punch-in-the-nads vibe that you look for in metal :). The other recs were pretty decent too but Morbid Saint stood out for me. Also came across Sepultura's Beneath the Remains which sounds pretty nice.

Thanks Mankycaaant. Some nice stuff there too. Standouts for me were probably The Saddest Landscape and Defeater.

Now I need to give it all a proper listen :).

Thanks again for the recs.

Has anyone heard Departures - Teenage Haze yet?
If so, is it a short album because all the DL links I've found are really low KB, the highest being just under 40kb, I didn't want to download it on a low quality version, but this may still be a decent quality copy if the record is short in duration.

If you haven't alredy, check out emo bands Elliott (Calm Americans) and I Hate Myself (Caught in a Flood with the Captain of the Cheerleeding Squad).

Local Hardcore Punk Bands

I'm after local hardcore punk bands from your local scenes. Would appreciate if you could put in where they're from also so I can track them down.

Cheers.

Alfred 01-30-2013 09:38 AM

I live in a small town so there's really no 'local' bands. This band is from the nearest big city (Kitchener-Waterloo) though, but they've broken up.

Vatican Chainsaw Massacre - Fraternity In Disguise - YouTube

No Victor one of the bands i've seen at Giovannis and the Doll Hut. Look at that weak pit though embarassing.

Also, nothing says punk rock like playing in a tastefully decorated, earth tone living room.

Beatdown Hardcore

Hi
Any suggestions of bands like Hatebreed\Lionheart\Murder Death Kill\Terror who play the good ol' aggressive Beatdown Hardcore ???
The indystry filled with hunderds of bands , but most of them sound like garbage... and even worse
Looking 4 some heavy riffs , good growling and ear blowing beatdowns . I know most of the 90's Hardcore bands like Madball\Biohazards\Earth Crisis Etc. but I search the new ones.. any help will be appreciated.
Tnx

Hey, added Sense Fiels and Saves The Day to my emo playlist (mainly based on second wave emo/indie emo), is emo the correct term? I've been wondering, and found that Saves the Day might be power pop/pop punk.

anticipation 03-08-2013 09:06 AM

one of the best to ever do it.

Roku 03-08-2013 01:36 PM

I don't know, maybe Pierce the Veil counts for hardcore and emo. I'd say check them out.

The Sane Psycho 03-11-2013 09:50 PM

There's a great newer Hardcore band out there that mixes Ska into the formula called The Wrecktals. Check out their song, Nothing More on YouTube.

lacunacoilfan 03-13-2013 09:15 PM

Alkaline Trio
Acceptance
Reggie and The full effect
Motion city soundtrack

The Sane Psycho 03-13-2013 11:08 PM

Listen to Sunny Day Real Estate. Their debut album, Diary, was uploaded in it's entirety on YouTube.

None of these are emo (except for Jimmy Eat World and Weezer's second album). Emo is dead, but you can find some independent stuff on last.fm discover (Tigers Jaw and We Were Skeletons, perhaps).

I'm seeing Tigers Jaw as they're opening for the Menzingers in August, I checked out some of their stuff when I heard and they're not too shabby, although I don't care too much for emo, the pop stereotyped or otherwise.

I need something like Algernon Cadwallader and Cap'n Jazz, stuff like American Football just sounds terrible to me.
I enjoy the more ''trashy'' style of playing, also they have pleasent screams.

Monplaisir 02-28-2014 02:15 AM

Hello there !
If you like punk hardcore, you'll maybe like the japanese band Hawaiian6 or Caves from Bristol, voices are really melodic.
And for the nervous ones, check A Wilhelm Scream or Melt Banana :)

TquinnL 03-11-2014 11:30 PM

If you want you can check out my band. We arent that great but we are brand new. Liars Start Fires.
