i suggest looking into Jawbreaker and Texas Is The Reason
I've read that thread alredy, but it doesn't say much about the emo subculture and why people are labeling bands as emo.

Is emo culture even still around? It seems to have died after its horrible fashion stereotype.

It saddens me that the only activity in this sub-forum is the same generic type of post about what 'emo' is and someone namedropping My Chemical Romance.
Why doesn't anyone want to talk about Empire! Empire! or Sunny Day Real Estate?

Even some post-hardcore discussion, no one mentions The Blood Brothers, Fugazi, At-The Drive In or La Dispute on a regular basis.

Are there actually any fans of emo and hardcore or are we all just here to answer the same spammy posts that have made up the norm of this section since I began using this forum?

Really? I find it seriously irritating and contrived. It's the one sub-genre of music that I refuse to listen to.

Briks,

Why did you audience - do you mean influence or audience? What bands do you think have emo influences, what Rock bands attract an emo audience and what bans do you think are pure emo?

I like emo, and I want to learn the characteristics of the genre. Learn the difference between real emo and labelled emo. Oh, and Neapolitan, I did mean audience. There's a lot of emo kids listening to My Chemical Romance, you know.

it's a start.
I see La Dispute as a gateway band to harder stuff like nu metal helped a lot of pop kids into metal.
Their records are decent, no doubt.
What do you make of their vocalist?

I was going to post a link but for some reason there is a ridiculous rule you can't post a URL until you have posted at least 15 times (completely stupid by the way)

Anyway google [link removed - against rules -mod] happy reading.

Or you could read the that "Education" thread its pretty much stolen word for word from fourfa anyway.
