ArtistInTheAmbulance 06-08-2005 07:25 AM

I wouldnt worry, youre not "the only one". There's plenty of y'all.

riseagainstrocks 06-08-2005 11:17 AM

got enough x's in your name?

sigh

it's stupid to call it "emo dress". i do wear tight pants. (girls pants are lame) and often band shirts but I do not consider myself "emo" at all.

partisan 06-08-2005 11:32 AM

Well maybe thats because that ain't the emo dress sense?
:usehead:

Black or brown hair. Flipped out on girls, mop top on guys. Horn-rim/thick black frames/cat eye glasses (this works for all three types). A silver necklace with a star charm. Scarves. A black or navy blue pea coat. Black messenger bag. No patches, 1 or 2 pins at the most (and only at the bottom of the strap). Heavy dress slacks. Doc Martens or clunky black shoes.

I think this is what the Threadstarter was referring too. It's kinda stupid though, I guess I dress sort of emo (small tees, converse shoes etc.) but I really don't see why music and fashion should be linked.

partisan 06-08-2005 12:37 PM

Fashion and music have almost always been linked...get over it.

Electric Ocean 06-08-2005 12:39 PM

Yes it's called a "Trend", and it only exists because are too afraid to be themselves and have to conform to fit a certain 'clique'. I say wear what you want and listen to what you want, it really makes no difference.

Maybe some people enjoy being part of a trend, maybe thats what they want to do, wear, and listen to. Anyways, what does it matter... It doesnt affect me so I say let 'em get on with it.

partisan 06-08-2005 12:48 PM

A trend wouldn't be a trend if people didn't want to dress like it.

Yeah and if that's how they feel more power to them, I was just trying to say that music and fashion shouldn't be intertwined so tightly. Anyway, I'll be quiet now :) .

ArtistInTheAmbulance 06-08-2005 12:58 PM

Heh s'alright, if you wanna get your opinion across dont feel the need to be quiet... I completely see what you mean, music and fashion shouldnt be linked, it just makes me think of people listening to music because of the fashion, which sucks.

Anyways... Its their lives, not mine, I refuse to let it bother me...

Snickers, what are you on about? I weren't complaining about trends? I was merely pointing out that there wouldn't be a trend on emo 'dress sense' if no-one was to wear it. Read the whole thread before you litter this forum with your moronic dribble.

daytonasurf 06-21-2005 02:04 AM

Wether you like it or not, fashion and music will be linked. Hip hop listeners tend to wear Ecko, etc, Emo kids wear the square glasses, etc. You get my point. I don't know if you consider that a trend or a steroetype, but thats what it is.

How about we make a compromise.
I'll read it.
Now, you read it. Notice the valid statement Electric Ocean makes and the moronic dribble you post afterwards? :yikes:

When my moronic dribble becomes worse than your's then you can inform me about it.

SATCHMO 06-21-2005 11:46 AM

Snickers, putting the smack down you are. Powerful you have become......heeheeheeheeheeheehee.....YES!!!!!!!!! !

Trauma 06-21-2005 11:47 AM

I saw Revenge of the Sith Saturday with my step-dad. Some of the things Yoda said about half way through made no sense whatsoever. Once he was like...
"The Sith Powerful Has Become Menacing, Yes"

WAIT, I don't want to get totally off-topic, so I'll say.
Dressing "emo" is fine, if that's what you like.
I guess I'm considered to dress "emo" most of the time.

But let me make a distinction between what's "emo" and what's not.
1. Dressing with tight clothes and black hair and bracelets is "emo", I guess.
2. Kissing another guy isn't "emo", it's called "***", "emo" is just the term they're using to cover it up. Ex: Emo boys really means *** guys.

I'm sry for disappointing you AITA, Angie, and others.

SATCHMO 06-21-2005 11:51 AM

That would be :
The Sith (comma) powerful (comma) has become menacing.
Sorry, I have a masters degree in english education. The sh!t's in my blood.

Well I like emo, but I aslo like some rap. What's that mean then, I should have balck hair, glasses and converse shoes but with a Fubu basketball shirt or some ****?

I don't see why it has to be that way is all.

It's because people like to label themselves so they fit somewhere with people. No one likes to be a loner in the social scheme of things. And because of MTV.

Electric Ocean 06-21-2005 03:15 PM

But it sucks that people get cast out of "scenes" just because of the stuff they wear or the other music that they like. I've heard stories of kids going to hardcore shows in Thursday T-shirts and having seven shades of **** kicked out of them.

heh. you have to admit quinn and bert are sexy! lol.. i also wear eighteen bracelets daily, i have since forever.

SATCHMO 06-21-2005 03:18 PM

Listen to what you want to listen to. Wear what you want to wear. And if the two don't compliment each other, then you're much cooler in my book.

.angie. 06-21-2005 03:22 PM

hmm.. im confused by that post. but hey, what else is new.

Trauma 06-21-2005 03:23 PM

He said don't follow trends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AGHHHH!

.angie. 06-21-2005 03:25 PM

damn, now i have to take back all my preppy abercrombie and fitch things so i dont follow the preppyness at my school.. i am officially deeply depressed.

Trauma 06-21-2005 03:28 PM

Cut it out, woman.
Wear the clothes you want to wear, that's not following a trend too, I guess.....
Wait I have the urge to say this again.
There is a bomb in the chapel...goodnightiloveyou.
I love you, don't be depressed.

.angie. 06-21-2005 03:34 PM

HAH! obviously you didn't catch the hint to MAJOR sarcasam in that sentence..

SpeaknSpell 06-21-2005 07:13 PM

i shop at tj maxx baby. 2 pairs of pants for 30 bucks. new pants. jeans. none of that wow-im-cool-cuz-i-shop-at-salvation-army crap. i dont have time to go over there even if it doesn cost 5 dollars to buy like a rack of cloths haha.

I have "regular" size jeans and they are in no way NEAR as tight as girl pants. I dont wear pants though, probably because they are GIRL pants.

you dont wear pants. okay, anyway, if you were a girl you would wear girl pants no matter what you wore, because you were a girl.

I'm not good at detecting sarcasm...
Was there sarcasm in this sentence too which cancelled out the sarcasm in the other sentence??

:soccer:

I was being sarcastic, I really didn't mean soccer ball.

I finally realized that there is no point to the soccer ball image...
