It Dies Today isn't usually thought of as screamo, but they do scream a lot. They've got a few CD's out: Forever Scorned (their EP), The Caitiff Choir, and a re-release of The Caitiff Choir (it has re-recorded versions of the songs on their EP, and also their cover of Enjoy the Silence).

I'm going to start it, because not one of those bands is screamo and this is a screamo thread. Just because a band has screaming, doesn't make it screamo. Is that so hard of a concept to grasp?

Read this.

Get away firstly have u even heard of all these bands and secondly i think that drop dead gorgeous, alexisonfire and beecher are all as much screamo as atreyu and thursday lol and i did say that they may not all be defo screamo but they have that feel and it may well apeal to screamo fans!!

Anyway every1 has their own opinions on what is hardcore/emo and screamo and why cant you people see that instead of nitpicking!

Just check these bands out u all and enjoy!

Deegan, the problem with that is that all of the bands you listed (while having core influence, some A LOT more than others), they aren't screamo. Just because a band has a screamer does not instantly place them in the screamo genre. Screamo evolved from emo (there's really not a big difference, explained in a second), but it's basically what we call real emo bands now so they don't get mixed up with all the Victory Records trash that's out there.

While I do enjoy The Fall of Troy, FBTMOF, and Norma Jean (the rest, I've listened to), you need to understand what actual music difference there is between screamo and hardcore/metal inspired bands such as those.

Saying that different people have different ideas of what screamo is and isn't doesn't justify the fact that they (and you) are still wrong. You cannot go against history (which I seem to keep telling people, again and again) just to argue (with no backing proof) that a band is in the genre. Read the education threads and look into some of the bands Ethan (Crowquill) and I have made threads about. I think if you do this, you will see a huge difference between the bands you've defined as "screamotional screamo screaming music lOLZ!@" and actual screamo bands.

come on then smart alec
list a genre for all of those bands i listed !

A_Perfect_Sonnet 04-13-2006 08:50 AM

I said they all had some core influences, which basically puts them all into either post-hardcore, metalcore, grindcore, or hardcore inspired pop rock. Fall of Troy has slightly more textbook emo music (lots of dynamic and melodic changes throughout the songs) than the others, but they still fall into post-hardcore, along with alexisonfire and The Bled (who don't have any emo qualities to their music). The rest of the bands you listed are just metalcore/metal with hardcore influence. If you don't believe me, compare them with these few bands (metalcore staples): Shai Hulud, Every Time I Die, and Botch. You'll notice a lot of similarity and influence. I'm not saying the musical taste is bad, it's just incorrectly labeled by you (and a majority of the time, myspace).
