I don't think the whole Garage rock revival thing had nearly as much scope and impact as grunge did though, which might explain why there is so many post grunge bands still around...

England begs to differ.

Considering Is This It? remains the template for quite a lot of emerging Irish bands,I'd also have to agree with WolfAtTheDoor.Maybe this says more about musical stagnancy than anything else though.

America certainly felt the repercussions of Grunge much longer than those of us living in the UK, thank God. We just got Strokes inspired ne'er-do-wells The Libertines, who then went on to inspire the next generation of unkempt ragamuffins fiddling about with untuned guitars. It wasn't much better than what you guys had to go through, but at least it wasn't Puddle of Mudd and Nickelback.

Ah now,I'm sure The Twang and Scouting For Girls give them a run for money in the pedestrian stakes.

Back on topic-The Strokes may have had a strongly negative influence on music, but it's not their fault. As regards the solo albums, are any of them worth getting?

I think Julian Casablancas' album is worth getting. I'm listening to it a lot lately. It's quite New Wave/Synth-pop which i wasnt expecting but it's a good little pop record.

I'm guessing it's an attempt to acheive what they were straining for on First Impressions Of Earth?

Im not too sure, i can see why you would think that though.

Maybe i need to revisit FEOE but i was thinking his solo album, even though he doesnt stray too much from the Strokes as to alienate the majority of his existing fanbase, was done in such a way that it could stand on its own rather than be a natural progression from that album.

I actually was unimpressed by it. I didn't like the repetitive techno background beats, and the similar tunes.

Love Strokes, though. Favourite band.

I have heard about the Strokes but I've never really listened to them..
Was Spotifying it the other day and the first song I listened to by these guys I fell in love with.
