B & S OWNS. The release date is apparently Feb 6. Yeah... I can't wait that long. Hope they do a U.S. tour.

meh....i heard a couple of tracks on last.fm....wasn't impressed.....but i'm a consumer whore so i only really like mainstream

anywayas... if you like B&S make sure to check out Sodastream and Camera Obscura. Both have albums better than B&S's weaker ones...

well im an indie fiend at heart so im inclined to dig B&S really. link dont work for me, but i will be buying the album on feb 6th.

silly billy, that's why god made msn....personally, it think it's average shit, the more indie bands i listen to the more i'm convinced i could make a band and become an indie god....indie=average music that should not have left the local bar....it all sounds like a bad soundtrack to an average movie...

i don't think it was a daft comment, my personal opinion is that indie music ( real indie music ) is just shit boring average music that you hear in the local bar played by averagely talented musicians, if this is my personal opinion how can it be daft? the definition of indie music is that it's music by bands who are signed on small , independant labels no? well my personal opinion is that those artist stay signed to small indie labels because they're simply not good enough to make it on a large scale and that's why bigger labels have no interest in such bands. franz ferdinand is an honorable exception.we're treading down the same path we have gone countless times before, that's why we Croatians ( in our infinite wisdom ) have a saying that goes something like this " o ukusima se ne raspravlja"....or " tastes are not discussable"

that is not correct. there are many fantastic bands on independant labels that are on these labels purely because either they havent been noticed yet by the big-hitters, or they might wish to remain independant.

well, you know, what is fantastic? doesn't it depend on personal taste? yes, i would say that for you a lot of indie bands are fantastic, aswell as hookers and expletive deleted, urban and sweet jane, but for me, bands like , most of them are crap. bands like clor, bloc party and franz ferdinand are not real indie because they are simply too good to be indie, i suspect that if they're still on indie labels ( i know franz is but i'm not sure on the other two ) they're doing it because they choose not to go to big labels ( yes, perhapse to maintain their indepenance ) even though they are more than interested, real indie bands are of no interest to big labels.....of course this is all generalisation, i too like some real indie, but it's very rare...
so, do you want the belle and sebastian? i'm more than willing to share.....

By a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong shot, and so are most indie bands. Franz Ferdinand had a good debut, but a lackluster followup, and Bloc Party are boring. Clor I've only heard a few songs from, but they didn't sound all that special.

oh ok, well my friend, i listened to this new album by belle and sebastian and i can safely compare the experience of listening to it to that of watching the grass grow, so what shall we do now? wanna come to croatia and have a fist fight so we can settle this matter once and for all? or shall we merely agree that you like to listen to shit bands while i listen to mega-superific-ultra-cool-turbo-talented-bands-the-likes-of-which-the-world-has-never-seen?

weve got some good live stuff on tape, but the only guy i know with the capabilities to get it transfered to mp3 has soundboard problems on his comp.

So what's your point?! You take one album from a band and say that all the stuff the band has made is crap and then state all indie music is made by talentless people?!

I happen to agree the new B&S was nothing special FYI.

Also - while technically Indie music used to be just groups on small (indie) labels that is an antiquated defination I believe. There are a lot of big bands on indie labels, but more importantly there are a lot of very small bands on major labels too (which should be called indie bands)...

Tiger Milk, If You're Feeling Sinister, and even the new-ish one, The Life Pursuit are all really good....

I think they blow hot & cold.

Boy with the Arab Strap , Tigermilk & Dear Catastrophy Waitress are great

Fold Your Hands Child & Storytelling are bloody awful

I dont think that and B&S fans actually liked Storytelling.
I have every album except Storytelly actually. If You're Feeling Sinister and Tigermilk are my favorites though.

B&S have three great albums (Tigermilk, If You're Feeling Sinister, The Boy With the Arab Strap), two good ones (The Life Pursuit, Dear Catastrophe Waitress), and two awful ones (Storytelling, Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like A Peasant). All that and nothing but great EPs (bar one or two) = a pretty solid career.
