Im not sure what he said, But he slagged off John Peel.

TheBig3 08-29-2005 08:30 AM

Come on, I know hatemonger knows what he said, where are you?

the_spinning_never_stops 08-31-2005 08:54 PM

conor oberst is the most talented lyricist i've ever heard. His stuff is amazing. I have all his cd's and know almost every one of his songs by heart. My favorite album is fevers and mirrors. I also love his desaparecidos stuff. Plus, he's the hottest person alive...and i lovelovelove him.

TheBig3 09-01-2005 08:06 AM

the hottest person alive? That guy could be in a tim burton flick and not need make up. not to mention it looks like he jacked Interpols hairdresser.

MURDER JUNKIE 09-01-2005 10:09 AM

Connor is a pretentious prat and I would personally rather be prison raped than listen to it. This is just my opinion however, if you people enjoy it more power to you.Keep it EVIL:ar_15s:

IndiElectronica 09-01-2005 10:25 AM

his quotes from Glastonbury

"John Peel was a cokehead. I suppose that's why I like him; we have a lot in common,"

"what am I doing? Making poverty history, that's what kids... This next song is definitely going to make poverty history. Poverty – you're ****ed!"

he also bemoaned the prices at glasto (fair point actually) and asked everyone to get their credit cards and bang them together over his head...

here's his apology - http://www.nme.com/news/112852.htm

I would have watched him but due to his slot being moved I missed him... I would have been one of the few people laughing about it I think in retrospect ;)

TheBig3 09-01-2005 10:43 AM

Doesn't remember it? Was he blackout wasted?

IndiElectronica 09-02-2005 04:07 AM

i wasn't there.. but reports are he was very drunk... but couldn't have been THAT bad if you can play a guitar and sing...

Hahaha. This made me laugh. And yet I still want him.

I always lose a little respect for people who say outrageous things and then apologise for them. I adore John Peel and everything he gave to us, but seriously if you're gonna say something with a microphone and god knows how many people in front of you at least stand by it, don't act all confident when you're in the limelight then ****ing apologise for it when the show's over and the lights are out.

Not convinced yet by him.Not really keen to get into him after his distasteful shambles at glastonbury this year.

Broken_Angel 12-14-2005 02:53 PM

Bright eyes

Would you say bright eyes are emo because im argueing with my freind about it :S im not sure?

A_Perfect_Sonnet 12-14-2005 03:29 PM

No, he's folk/acoustic with some electronica thrown into some of his songs.

half_baked87 12-14-2005 04:34 PM

he's like the bob dylan of the new millenium. but some of his lyrics practically scream emo.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 12-14-2005 06:10 PM

Emo isn't defined within lyrics.

.angie. 12-14-2005 06:31 PM

I call Bright Eyes folk emo, whether it's correct or not, I do not care.

sleepy jack 12-14-2005 06:49 PM

Quit freaking out over what genre it is..=/.
I'd go with what a perfect sonnet said and it has an "emo" influence in it.

Broken_Angel 12-15-2005 01:56 PM

Yeah..you have all confused me now :S

A_Perfect_Sonnet 12-15-2005 03:42 PM

Listen to me, there is no emo influence in Bright Eyes. If there is, it would be from Sunny Day Real Estate, but Conor doesn't even incorporate the sound into his music.

sleepy jack 12-15-2005 03:44 PM

Some of his songs sound sunny day real estateish.
Only some first day of my life sounds similarish to rain song.
Among a few others.

Imonlydancing 12-15-2005 03:47 PM

I don't know.
Some people say he's emo. Some people say he's indie or folk. So i dunno.
Anyway I like Bright Eyes lots.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 12-15-2005 03:54 PM

A person CANNOT be emo.

bungalow 12-15-2005 03:56 PM

I like Bright Eyes......
and A Perfect Sonnet.......
you sound like an elitist prick ;)

A_Perfect_Sonnet 12-15-2005 03:59 PM

Uh, no. Considering I'm not trying to put myself up on a pedestal. Everyone just chooses to ignore the obvious fact that acoustic music cannot be emo in any way, it's just acoustic.

riseagainstrocks 12-15-2005 04:02 PM

Unplug the guitars from Antioch Arrows amps and you have acoustic emo.

Haha, Bright Eyes the Bob Dylan of the new millenium? Give me a break.

And his music could be classified as Proto-Emo Indiecore Folktronica for all I care, he'd still be a horrible musician.

riseagainstrocks 12-15-2005 06:46 PM

^finally another person who thinks that. no one does. and it makes me sad.

he's actually a brilliant musician. his singing voice is a bit annoying, but so was dylans IMO. the guy has worked with dozens of different musicians on each album, directing them all together. thats got to take some talent.

Decoy 12-16-2005 04:29 AM

i think Bright Eyes is folk/indie/electronica. I like the Connor Oberst.

Sabgoat 01-01-2006 05:36 PM

i think bright eyes.. they have a few good songs.. others are right.. and then some are just no ifs ands or buts just plane ****!

Decoy 01-02-2006 10:20 PM

i like his Christmas Album alot.

Sabgoat 01-02-2006 10:21 PM

i hate it when bands that i don't like that much go out and do a xmas album.. makes me made.. i don't like xmas much let alone those same old stupid xmas songs being sung by a million different people every year just gets so dull!

PrettyDemented 01-03-2006 01:10 PM

yeah - but there's people like me who are forced by friends/family to listen to xmas music at xmas... so this way I am at least able to make a mix that has musicians I don't mind doing those crappy old songs...

Sabgoat 01-03-2006 02:26 PM

yea i can see that.. good point!

riseagainstrocks 01-03-2006 02:54 PM

I have never liked Bright Eyes. Connor Oberst is a pretentious little prick and I'd love to punch his moopy ass.

I don't mind him... but wouldn't mind giving him a punch either tbh

PrettyDemented 01-03-2006 03:49 PM

He's also an alcoholic.

He got drunk on stage and passed out.
