franscar 08-06-2004 09:31 AM

For me a bit hit n miss, some of the stuff is wonderful, some of it is just a bit meh. I prefer Desparaceidos myself.

brokenspindles 08-06-2004 01:39 PM

I LOVE Bright Eyes.

Definately my favourite band... I have all the cds but I recommend "Fevers and Mirrors" especially. Enjoy!

xEmochicKx 08-06-2004 03:27 PM

I agree with franscar. I find i either love the song or dont like it at all."No Lies, Just love" is a great song!

xcollapseofmyheartx 08-08-2004 04:28 AM

i just got lifted...

deathonbreaking 08-08-2004 03:31 PM

awesome band check out "lover i don't have to love" and "Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh"

Tekron 08-10-2004 04:49 PM

theyre awesome. Conor Oberst is a great songwriter

elegant_scars 10-17-2004 07:34 PM

conor oberst is a lyrical genius... !
i recommend bright eyes to anyone and everyone who's willing to actually listen to the lyrics of a song... o_o

David Frost 10-17-2004 08:34 PM

im not a huge fan. conor is going to be on austin city limits soon, which is pretty cool.
id give it a 5

Headfoot 10-17-2004 09:11 PM

5 out of......

David Frost 10-18-2004 06:12 AM

Bright eyes

out of 10. youd have to be pretty stupid not to figure that out.

swingkids. 10-18-2004 07:01 AM

I can't stand the singer's voice.

Pimp_racer 10-20-2004 03:37 PM

10 what else would it be out of? i mean normally its out of 10

Thrice 10-20-2004 04:26 PM

a million...wtf do you think it is out of.

riseagainstrocks 10-21-2004 05:55 PM

I can't stand alot of it and everyonce and awhile they'll put out something other than just big words strung together. Also Oberst is like super-Kerry. And I don't understand why you'd go to a concert just to cry. Seems like you could do that at home...

David Frost 10-21-2004 06:01 PM

i have changed my position, anyone who doesnt support the next dictator is good in my book.

vote kerry 2004

emoheartataq 11-15-2004 02:49 PM

Pretty cool

I like bright eyes i think they are pretty awesome. My favourite song is Lover I don't have to love or falling out of love at this volume.
They're bloody bonkingly good :bonkhead:

emokid 11-19-2004 07:34 PM

i should listen to bright eyes. but... i have no money, and i'm download impaired.

Jesus Of Suburbia 11-21-2004 09:19 PM

theyre decent, the voice gets annoying though and they have a lot of bad songs.

albuquerque 11-21-2004 09:51 PM

there is no they're....Bright Eyes is just one guy, i mean there's other musicians that play with him, but Bright Eyes is just Conor Oberst.

Bright Eyes...What a joke

So I've read about 4 articles about Bright eyes in the past 2 weeks(including one in the new yorker whats with that?) And about half of those have compared Conner Oberst to...Bob Dylan?!?! Conner Oberst is nothing more than a trendy emo singer. How the hell does anybody think he is a reosanable comparison to Bob Dylan? Blenders reasoning was that musicly hes remeniscent of Dylan....thats crap In dylans later years he didnt even play on a diatonic scale how is it possible that bright eyes could sound like him? I especially dont get why The New Yorker a magazine of much prestige would call him a folk musician when he obviously has no relations to folk music at all. Conner Oberst is one cat that really know how to get me steamed. Some things I will never understand.....

David Frost 02-12-2005 04:36 PM

HAHA... yes!

Urban Hat€monger ? 02-12-2005 04:41 PM

My ex girlfriend loves Bright Eyes & was always trying to get me to listen to them.

I told her that when she could find one fan of theirs that wasn`t either female or under 18 I would.

Needless to say she never found one.

Zealious 02-12-2005 04:42 PM

Oh yeah, I read that in the music section of the New York Times. Why are you mad at him though? He's just making music. Its not like he told the reporters that he's emo. He's just a victim of writers that know nothing about music. This also happened to the Promise Ring, Cap'n JAzz, The Get Up Kids, etc... They never said they were emo they are just named that by uneducated writers.

Metal_Head 02-12-2005 07:16 PM

i hate Bright Eyes.

deepestgrey 02-12-2005 07:54 PM

I'm not saying I agree with them (the writers) but I think they figure since some of his songs are politically motivated then he's automatically like Bob Dylan. It's a bunch of crap, but hey, most people don't try to think about it they just agree with it because it's in some magazine.

I agree with you, I never said he was the one who gave himself this title. Its just pathetic how poor music journalism has gotten. You would think the Newyorker of all magazines would be able to find a better represntation of our generations Dylan than f-n bright eyes. Its just kind of pathetic what lots of music journalism will publish today. Rolling stone has turned into a magazine with a political core, new yorkers music section is shotty at best when it comes to anything outside jazz or the like, blender is obsessed with the T and a and not the music. Spin has been doing a pretty good job though. I think there one of my favorite music mags out there. Or he handful of cool punk zines i.e. Profane Existence, slug and lettuce, suburban blight. Magazines written by people who know and love the music and bands.

but I do blame Conner Oberst for having such a bad band.

All_Nite_Dinah 02-13-2005 10:03 AM

I say we start a MusicBanter.com zine.

Bright Eyes...What a joke

oh...

thats depressing.

riseagainstrocks 02-14-2005 04:45 PM

Whats really terrible is the praise of his two new albums. A friend bought both and forced me to listen to them on the way to The Sleeping show. lordy i almost crahsed the car. I thought it couldn't get worse. Made me want to kill myself.

Needless to say Race The Sun and The Sleeping made my night.

jibber 02-14-2005 05:17 PM

^ wait, you were the driver, and you let him play a CD you hated? My friends know that if they want to stay in the car, they have no say in the music. If they don't like it, they can walk.
