meh, death cab and postal service sound pretty different though, aside from the singer, they really don't have all that much in common.

I know what your saying and i do agree to a point.. but i'm, just sick of the whole same singer deal.. like the singer enough is what made me first listen to the postal because well i thought they were death cab haha..

IndiElectronica 03-14-2006 03:09 AM

just saw DCFC on sat and was only decent...

make sure to read the DNTEL thread as well as he's the other half of postal service....

Expletive Deleted 03-14-2006 03:41 PM

I used to just dislike the Postal Service and the awful pop crap that they managed to convince half a million people was "good" Electronic music.

Then I heard their remix of Feist's "Mushaboom," and now I hate them

bungalow 03-14-2006 03:48 PM

I'd say they convinced half a million people they made "good" Pop music with Electronic influences.

Trust me - when I think of proper electronic music postal service is no where near the list of bands (pan sonic etc, four tet, etc...).

I still very much like PS tho :)

ILIVEMUSIC 03-28-2006 09:23 AM

The Postal Service

Does any one else really like this band?

i love them, my fav song by then is "nothing better" and "such great heaight"

which is a cover from iron and wine of the same title, all 3 are really good songs!

Rabid Sea Turtles 03-28-2006 10:53 AM

Yes great band. Such Great Heights is a good song too.

JimV 03-28-2006 12:23 PM

I'm getting into them more and more now!

IndiElectronica 03-28-2006 12:39 PM

Iron & Wine did the cover, not PS :)

Love this group - make sure to look into Figurine as very similar, but more rewarding in the long run I find.

A new band that's really good/similar is Electric President too :)

venn diagrams 03-28-2006 01:16 PM

Putting the sickening popularity of "Such Great Heights" aside, The Postal Service isn't bad. I find them kind of overrated (and Death Cab For Cutie), although Ben Gibbard is undoubtedly good at creating simple, melodic, listenable tunes.

ILIVEMUSIC 03-28-2006 01:31 PM

"sickening popularity" haha, if a song is good then a song is good. i dont listen to stuff just cause someone cooler than me listens to it.

oh yeh and i just listened to electric president and i like them, I LIKE THEM ALOT!!!!

of course, you should listen to what you like regardless of its popularity or lack thereof. i only mention the popularity because i have a hard time escaping the song, especially since so many of my friends are prone to that style of music. it's on commercials, tv shows, countless myspace profiles, and if i'm in someone else's car there's a 75% chance they have the song on the mixed CD they're playing. i originally enjoyed the song, but it got drilled into my head too much.

ILIVEMUSIC 03-29-2006 03:20 AM

yeh i know what u mean. my phone is broke and i have postal service sleeping in as my alarm, ironic i know. but cause i cant chage the song cause my phone is broke i hear it every morning and i dont like the song any more cause it just reminds me of having to wake up early!!

IndiElectronica 03-29-2006 03:47 AM

i'm in the UK - so well away from being overexposed to PS. I know what you mean though, I lived in Seattle during Grunge and I was so overexposed I still don't listen to any of the popular albums....

ILIVEMUSIC 03-29-2006 04:05 AM

yeh im in the uk as well but my mate got me into them, and now all my friends are listening.

IndiElectronica 03-29-2006 05:10 AM

oh - meant to say... a aband I've been supporting for almost a year now and have their first EP coming out soon is called 'Letting Up Despite Great Faults' and you should check them out too. http://lettingup.com/

Revolver 03-29-2006 03:45 PM

They are pretty good, although I've only heard a few songs by them.

Um.

bungalow 04-02-2006 12:02 AM

I was going to point that out too.
I'm pretty sure they only have 1 CD, and a handful of EPs, that just recycle or remix the songs.

ILIVEMUSIC 04-02-2006 05:46 AM

i love them

pistola 04-05-2006 01:04 AM
