LABeet 07-19-2010 10:01 AM

Saw them play at The Glass House, a couple months ago. Nice.

iangreer 07-19-2010 05:38 PM

Have they been touring? I've been wanting to see them for ages. Microcastle was a fantastic album.

debaserr 07-19-2010 05:44 PM

i liked rainwater cassete exchange, microcastle and a few tracks off wierd era. i heard they broke up but apparently they are making an album so woo.

keith! 07-20-2010 08:30 AM

Microcaslte was my personal favourite of 2008, so you better believe I'm stoked for a new album from them.

Revival is amazing, cannot wait for the new album.

September seems like a good time to be an indie fan:
new panda bear
new deerhunter
new of montreal
new no age

....daaaamn son, that's a lot of indie

Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest

edit: meh

keith! 09-04-2010 09:52 PM

really really loving Helicopter.

my hype for Halcyon Digest is through the roof right now

keith! 09-16-2010 01:50 PM

so Halcyon Digest has leaked and o man its good

debaserr 09-16-2010 02:04 PM

thanks !

keith! 09-16-2010 02:29 PM

not sure if sarcastic or genuine...

if you need a link i can hook you up

debaserr 09-16-2010 02:37 PM

it was sincere, thanks.

i found one.

debaserr 09-16-2010 09:01 PM

first listen: not doing much for me. this sounds way more like atlas sound than any other deerhunter album. it's mostly minimalistic music/arrangements set to a slow beat with cox doing his thing over them. microcastle had slow sections too, but they were amongst up tempo stuff. favorite songs: revival and basement scene. hopefully it will grow.

and the vocals on helicopter make my stomach turn.

keith! 09-18-2010 02:31 PM

actually, the opinions of the album have been pretty divided it seems. some ppl are claiming it's deerhunter best album yet, some say it's their worst yet. i'd say it's to early to judge anything like that.

i'm definitely really really loving the album. so i'd say give it another try eric.

favourite tracks are Desire Lines, Helicopter, Earthquake, Coronado, and He Would Have Laughed. Revival is still fantastic though.

sleepy jack 09-19-2010 05:51 PM

I love the new album and I'm in the "best thing they've done" camp. The entire thing is basically a testament to everything that's good about them.

Superhast 09-29-2010 11:09 AM

Listened to a couple of songs, but nothing stucked. Don't really like their sound.

keith! 09-29-2010 02:11 PM

I'm not actually sure if i like it more then Microcaslte, I think it'll just depend on my mood really. They are pretty much equal in my eyes (which I didn't imagine happening)

My AOTY as of now and probably by the time the end of the year roles around. Only things that could trump this would be Radiohead and Panda Bear (but doubts we'll get anything from them in 2k10)

debaserr 10-04-2010 12:23 PM

going through a second listen now. i like it more!

Zer0 10-04-2010 01:35 PM

I'm pretty blown away by Halcyon Digest to be honest! I never really grew to like Microcastle but this album is just brilliant, one of the best of the year so far. As for best tracks i have to say 'Desire Lines' and 'He Would Have Laughed'. The last few minutes of 'Desire Lines' are awesome.

dankrsta 10-04-2010 01:43 PM

I need a suggestion. I've only heard Cryptograms and it's very good, but kinda loses me 'till the end. However, 'Lake Somerset' is a great, great song, the best on the album for me. So based on that, what should I check next?

debaserr 10-04-2010 02:41 PM

microcastle!

heres some tubes

dankrsta 10-04-2010 04:04 PM

^^Thanks for these clips. Hmm...this sounds very different from Cryptograms, more like straightforward indie rock. I especially like the first song, so I'll check it out for sure.

Superhast 10-06-2010 07:01 AM

Listened a bit more and Nothing Ever Happened & Desire Lines are actually pretty good. Didn't like Earthquake though.

keith! 10-06-2010 02:17 PM

yo mr eric generic,

how do you think Halcyon Digest is in comparison to Microcastle? Better, worse? How much has it grown on you?
