it's probably a bit early to tell. i've only heard it twice, and i had a dramatically different opinion the second time around. but for now it's still microcastle.

fair enough. i'd actually say I like them both just as much, Helicopter and Desire Lines are both ridiculously awesome in my opinion. And He Would Have Laughed is a killer closer (same with Earthquake...cept killa' opener)

fantastic album. i think the only real weak link on it is Don't Cry.

"Weird Era" is still my favorite, but I like the new one a whole lot, maybe just a tad less than Microcastle.

I still want them to make another album more along the lines of Fluorescent Grey or Cryptograms though.

After Microcastle, I had thought Deerhunter had reached the apex of their musical output. Then Halcyon Digest came out and blew that preconceived notion out of the water. Songs like Earthquake and Helicopter just go to show how talented these guys are as songwriters.

Every time I click this thread I think I'm going into the Deerhoof thread. I effing love that band.

These guys are great, too. It's interesting, too, because their music is so pencil thin that I never think I'll be all that interested, but I am every time.

'halycon digest' is fast becoming one of my favourite albums, theres not a second i want to skip. incredible.

Probably my favorite current band around, I've pretty much enjoyed all of their albums and the constant change of their sound from, Turn It Up to Haylcon Digest.

On record they sound pretty good. I like um, Microcastle was my favorite album for a long time when I first got it. I saw em live once with the pains of being a band with a rediculously long ass name and got a free button and poster of both bands. They were both pretty dull and the crowd was hella gay. Deerhunter's singer needs to eat more.

He has Marfan's syndrome.

Anyone hear Parallax by Atlas Sound? Same singer and it sounds like a branch off the same tree. If you like Halcyon Digest it's likely to rub you the right way.

Most of the Atlas Sound material is quite good.

I never know Deerhunter stuff is coming but it's always such a nice surprise.

Not sure I'm feelin' this guy. Sounds too much like Real Estate and the chorus kills it for me.

Pretty nondescript. Not something I really care to hear again. I did like Snakeskin though.

I tend to like this guy's solo stuff as Atlas Sound better.
