haha wow!

but techinically all music is alternative.
every [MOST] bands take their favorite generes and mix them, grabbing influence from a bunch of things to create their own sound.

That is probably the most on target statement I have heard in a long time! My thoughts exactly! I actually broke out laughing in the middle of the room when I read that.

As for defining alternative: I would say that Alternative Rock and Indie Rock really together make up a larger subcategory of anyone who doesn't like to go with the typical flow of mainstream rock music. To me, acts such as Motion City Soundtrack, VHS or Beta, Boys Like Girls, Matt Costa, Jack Johnson, Ingrid Michaelson and others all represent something that is different than your typical Creed, Nickelback, Matchbox Twenty, and Foo Fighters type music which has the feel of being crafted specifically for the radio.

Opinions are like asses, everyone has one, and that's just mine.

Believe what you want Crow. But IMO Evanescence is alternative, three days grace is alternative, chevelle is alternative and so is flyleaf.

Isn't slipknot like wanna be metal or something?

I like Radiobox's song "Underwater" and Fenix TX's "Phoebe Cates" the best right now. Both are the most played in my iPod!

Oh, and Evanescence is totally alternative.

At the moment, I'd say it's Scentless Apprentice by Nirvana.

LOST Season 3 Finale FTW!

I Agree like whats the difference its music at the end of the day, you like it or not. Also i am not defending nickleback, they are alright i guess but **** off with the hating, its almost like Boston red sox fans(outside boston), you knew none until they win. (I know yankees too but red sox are more recent)
