You didnt? Postal Service is all technoish.
Huge Difference.
The Postal Service is so electronic, but I like them too . . . . |
New Death Cab Cd

Theyre coming to toronto soon (my home). happy but i cant go.
My favorite band.
Ben Gibbard is a god. |
Dear DCfC,
I never liked you, mostly because of your name mostly, and seconded only by your fans. Let it be known I still hate both, yet upon hearing "Soul meets body" I went and tried to DL the song. Not only did I find it, but I also found the iTunes Original version. I was more than pleasently suprised. I've always liked the indie sound, but prior to hearing what could otherwise be called your acoustic version I always thought it was ambient chaas that happened to come out as something half decent. I was suprised to find chords and even melody. Thank you Death Cab, you'd made life alot easier for me today. Honestly, TheBig3KilledMyRainDog |
I'm with you Big3. Soul Meets Body is catchy as hell, besides the one ackward high-pitched moment. But actually the entire new album is a surprising delight. If nothing else, check out tracks

I like a few of there songs but most of there songs have the cheesyest , crummyest lyrics and for somereason there fans are obsessed with how good they are, one example of this is title and registration, there worst song lyric wise and the singgers voice is whiny and ****ty. Built to Spill is good indie at least i think it would be considered indie.
i hear where you are coming from... it does get a bit 'emo'ish etc, certainly enough to be a love/hate thing... I quite like titel & registration myself.
Built to Spill is the type of indie I can't stand... to each their own! ;) |
I just really like his voice, it's not for everybody, and their lyrics are very "heart on the sleeve" but I think the music makes up for it, and keeps it out of the "emo" category.
I may have posted in here before...Or theres a thread in another section.
I like Death Cab. I only have one album, but tis good. |
Ben Gibbard does have some of the cheesiest lyrics ever. But, sometimes he gets clever with the cheesiness, and I think that's their appeal. "Heart on a sleeve", I might have to steal that description from jellybean.
Honestly I didn't even like them until the new album, probably not such a popular opinion among their indie-idealistic fans. In the midst of graduating from adoring the Postal Service album, I thought it was a transitionally sweet poptart of an album. Definitely check it if you're a fan. |
I think they're incredibly boring and pretty much the epitome of mediocre. For every one good song they make, they have five that I can hardly stand.
I'd say the same about the Postal Service if it didn't have Tamborello to at least bring some talent to the table. |
I love the new album. Body and Soul makes me want to cuddle.
and I can't stand the Postal Service, BTW. They drive me crazy with the super whiny vocals. But the kids fawking love it.

can I just hate the Postal Service? Music Royalty, really. I used to work for their label, and worked with Nick at a record store in Seattle, I am familiar with all the albums. I agree, those albums are great. I was pleasantly surprised how I like Plans with it coming out on a Major. As for the "the kids fawking love the Post Service" it amazes me how that song has blown up, and the reaction that younger kids give when that song comes on at a club.
i like postal service better than death cab just cause they got better music. the singings basically the same but postals way easier to get addicted to.
dcfc are touring the UK! I have tix alrdady for oxford. WOOT!
oh i envy you. i love death cab and postal service. i want to see them live.
yeah - but having Postal Serv. tour the UK is too much to ask... happy enough for dcfc tbh
i dont mind them, havnt really listened to much of their stuff but still think they are good.
such a boring band.
I like that song Title and Registration...just cuz its quite relaxing...can't say i've listened to much else by them tho...
wickedest band ever! theyre 1 of my favourites n i love them 2 bits...sum say theyre music sounds all the same, but if ya actually listen every song is heaps different, theyre just all under the indie style which is why they seem the same to the un interestered ear.... same with any style of music
i think death cab for cutie are great...
soul meets body and summer skin are awesome songs on there new album!! |
starting to get into to them, wich album(s) should I get first?
i would go with "plans"
its there newest album.. and its the best so far.. in my opinion |

Not a Death Cab fan. Their brand of indie emo doesn't sit well with my ears.
when i first heard them..they reminded me of the shins.. cause of the writing.. death cabs sound is a bit more up beat tho.. unlike the shins there sound id more downer mellow.. i do liek the shins more.. but i dunno.. death cab are still cool.. but i have to be in the mood to listen to both bands..
No deathcab threads?
what is this? I'm sorry. I'm a huge sucker for this band. I've always been a big fan. older stuff = golden. agree? .. that's what I thought. http://myspace-288.vo.llnwd.net/0020...09473288_l.jpg give it uppppp :) |
I think there is a thread on them, but anyway i love them. Photobooth and We Look(ed?) Like Giants. They're very good.
