They're great synth-rock, and have a big sound for a duo.

Time to Pretend was on the soundtrack for the movie "21". I had no clue it was MGMT until a few months ago when Kids came out and I made the correlation, because the voices were similar. Those would be my two favorite tracks, I haven't given any other songs much notice.

I almost messed my pants at the "Kids" video, until I realized how awesome it was.

Time To Pretend will probably make this band one of the One-Hit-Wonders of this decade.
Those guys should go back and get their post-graduate degrees. Music seems to be a good hobby for them, though.

But they already have "Kids" and "Electric Feel." They're hits, and that makes three, so that means that they're not One-Hit-Wonders. Are you following?

Sure, but MTV/VH1 will only remember one -- if any.
Let's talk in about 5 years after the irrelevant One-Hit-Wonder special comes out.

Hippie grunge bands??? I don't think there are.

As for hippie rock you should go back to the psychedelic rock bands of the 60's such as Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead and 13th Floor Elevators

Wow never though The Dead would be in the MGMT thread. But yeah anyone heard their first album? It's pretty sweet as well, but not nearly as good. More alternative, less experimental.
