instrumentally they are better than ever! I saw them when they were touring in support of that album and it was a great show. They just really packed on the metal in the two new albums and lost most of their funk roots, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The two new albums were great, just my least favorites put out, ykno?

my order of incubus albums with some of my favorite songs noted

1. Morning View (Under My Umbrella, Just A Phase, 11am, Are You In?)

2. A Crow Left Of The Murder: picked over SCIENCE for overall consistency, other than my favorites the rest of SCIENCE is pretty crappy imo. (Sick Sad Little World, Leech, A Crow Left Of The Murder, Here In My Room)

3. SCIENCE (Redefine, Vitamin, A Certain Shade Of Green, Favorite Things)

T-4. All The Rest - I think most the others are for the most part are pretty lame with a few highlights (Take Me To Your Leader, The Warmth, Anna Molly)

Make yourself was a good album, solid, decent, fairly good, but nothing that really sticks out at me as something wonderful or memorable.... I kept it, and i will no doubt once again revisit it for a playing or two, but its not going to reach into the upper echelons of my favourite artists' works...

The problem I have with Incubus is that they really were mining a trail already paved by previous bands, Faith No More being a good example, and without the raw, edgy innovative streak through their music... in that regard I consider them rather "safe"...

I felt it they were always just a solid band overall (regarding everything after S.C.I.E.N.C.E. considering it was the later albums that got Incubus really noticed) and that make yourself, instrumentally, lyrically, and emotionally was just an awesome album. It really hit a good note with me.

Incubus was my favorite band for a looong time, and I still really like them, and I always look forward to hearing new stuff by them. Haven't really listened to them in a while, though.

I would have to say my favorite album is A Crow Left of the Murder, and my least favorite is Light Grenades (though I do like some stuff on there). I only heard that one all the way through maybe once or twice, but didn't really get into it. Maybe I should give it another try.

I gotta admit to really liking the song "Dig Me out", and thought it had a pretty darn good video - but it certainly won't turn me into some sort of Incubus completist...

honestly, I became an Incubus fan around the time that morning view came out. i was only like twelve at the time but morning view and make yourself became two of my favorite albums. but what really got me into them was their old stuff. i mean fungus amougus and enjoy incubus were fantastic in a really weird way. i mean i remember listening to it for the first time and feeling like that kid that stumbles onto g*y porn and wonders why they are getting a boner.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is the middle step between the days of make yourself and fungus but was still awesome. since all that stuff, eh a few highlights but nothing at all that great or interesting. I think fame took away any experimentation that Incubus had left.
