Ah, yes..the Cure indeed. Well these musicians are one of those bands that I spent a lot of time with in high school. They are also a band that I would like to flesh out a bit more, and explore. Though of course I have Kiss Me, Kiss Me and The Head on the Door, as well as The Greatest Hits.

Though to be honest, I'm a quite unhappy person and I've always meant to go back to the early 80's cure, which I hear is the real "goth" music prelude, so to say. When they got that real dark image they didn't really shake off to the mid-to late 80's with songs like Just like Heaven.

Not really sure what albums I'm looking for though, to get down with the nitty gritty dark Cure, any suggestions?

well 'they' call 17 seconds, Faith and Poronography 'the dark trilogy'. I find 17 seconds the lightest of the the three with Faith being more bleak than dark and Porongoraphy being the most mental sounding. They've all got their high points and they're all a bit patchy too. Another thing is 17 seconds and Faith sound like they're virtualy one album split in to two but Poronography's very different.

I've only got two songs but my friend loves them so I'm sure I'll soon hear more!

I have "Lullaby" and "Friday I'm In Love".

So I 'spose I'll check out Wish and Disintegration. Which one do you recommend most?

You should probably check out The Head On The Door before you check out Disintegration, it's a very good album to start with.

So I was thinking about getting some Cure, but I saw that many albums had a 2 cd deluxe edition for 5-6 dollars more, for example here's a link to the Amazon page of Faith deluxe edition,

Amazon.com: Faith [Deluxe Edition]: Cure: Music

And now a link to the normal one,

Amazon.com: Faith: Cure: Music

What are your guys thoughts on these deluxe editions? Are they worth the extra money? Are the bonus tracks and remastering done well, or should I just stick with the normal editions?

Just get the normal one, the bonus disc just has a load of demos and live versions that aren't really essential unless you're a Cure fanatic. I have the deluxe editions of Pornography, The Head On The Door and Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me and they're not really worth the extra money. If you're starting out stick with the regular CDs.

In Between Days and Lovecats are the best songs I've heard by them, I'm not a huge fan.

Do you own both Zero? Is the sound quality noticeably different between the deluxe editions and the normal editions?

I own both editions of The Head On The Door, there's no real difference in sound quality apart from the deluxe edition being mastered louder. The original is already pretty well produced anyway.
