Yeah, that's how I first got into XTC myself. Great compilation of that, and the version of This Is Pop on it is far better than the original White Music one as well.

I discovered XTC first through Oranges and Lemons, which I couldn't go a day without listening to for about a month. Soon after was Skylarking, which took a bit longer to gel with me, though now I look at it as a prime example of concise tightly-woven superb pop craftmanship. Later I discovered the older material, and while not liking it as much as the latter two albums, still enjoy it tremendously.

It's unfortunate that their lack of touring has hampered their fame and fortune. Or maybe it's fortunate for us, as they are still a bit of a hidden treasure to enjoy, our own little secret. Looking at one of the YouTube videos above, you'd never know that Andy Partridge would suffer from...er...performance anxiety.

I personally love XTC. I would have to say the Dear God is one of my all time favorite songs. Their lyrics mean something and it is a shame they aren't more know.

Telling me. I've only recently got into XTC but I've heard about him and his stage fright and I was expecting him to be shy and insecure whereas he looks like he needs a bit a slap to stop him being so full of himself.
He posts on the official XTC forums btw.

Quite so. From [my favourite] Ball and Chain to Wonderland and a whole lot more besides... best Wiltshire band ever? My favourite album of theirs is English Settlement.

I've just played White music a few times. I was very unprepared for after getting into the latter albums. Didn't like it at all. Where's the tunes?
