Smile Oh My God, THE PIXIES!

Any pixies fans on this board?, I've been obssesing over them ever since they first reunited early this year, i got a chance to see them a few weeks ago... My semi retarded review"

Last week, i completed my life. I saw the pixies live.

This was the single best concert i have ever been to (seen the stones before too). arrived about an hour early and my chums and I were front row in the pit. AMAZING

The Bennies:
The lead singer has some disease that had caused his legs to be deformed and he is extremely short... but this man is no gimick. This guy rocked out like no tomorrow. Great alt rock set. they were represented well. I wouldnt mind seeing them again in the future.

Mission Of Burma
I was really impressed with their set. All the guys in the band are like 50 but still play like they did in the 70s. Great set by a sadly semi forgotten punk band. Some standout songs were "Academy Fight Song" and "Thats when i reach for my revolver"

THE PIXIES

Oh my lord, never have I been so amazed by the talent and beauty of a bands performence. And too be so close to the stage. Priceless. The show started off pretty mellow (moshing wise) people were still screaming and dancing though. The plyed winterlong first, a song im not in love with but a good tune. Then they played Wave of mutilation (slow) which had a nice sing along. I was extremely happy when they played 'here comes your man' cause they didnt play it at UMASS the night before. Next was 'Weird at my school', a classic . Then the moshing finally formed when 'Bone machine' came on and 'I Bleed' but everyone settled down when 'monkey gone to heaven' came on, every just had to soak in the greatness of that song. later came greats such as Mr. Grieves, subba, #13. While playing 'vamos' Joey Santiago put this crazy distortion where he put the guitar back on its stand, grabbed a drum stick and started swinging near the guitar and the guitar made the exact same noises it made on the album, twas insane. UMASS was played, was fun hearing everyone shout in unison "IM FROM FUCCKING MASSACHUSETTS". Then me and my chums steped into the mosh pit for Broken bones, isla, debaser, i got something against you, tame, caribo, hey, nimrod, gouge away, Wave of mutilation (fast ), and gigantic (<3 kim). At this point me and one of my friend were verry front row of an 8,000 person hockey arena when the pixies removed their instruments for a bit of a 'thank you', i got to wave to and be waved at by Kim and Frank. Then they got their instruments and back and finished it of with "where is my mind" ahhhhhhhh bliss. i wish it never ended. im still in shock.

By the way this is my first post here. Hello. I want an avatar.

sounds like an awesome show. and about the avatar, you need 50 posts before you can have one.

Hell yeah, the Pixies own balls. I saw them at thier show at the Verizon Ampitheatre with the Mars Volta.(whose set sucked, haha) Show was the best. Tore me like 6 new @ssholes. <--- That was me, hahaha. So if you're ever looking for a guy to talk Pixies with, then I'm your man.

That was indeed a great show. Not the best Pixies show I've seen but they were still in rocking form. You didn't like The Mars Volta set? What didn't you like about it? I thought they put on a good set, albeit a short one.

the set was alright. the shortness was one reason i didnt like it. plus I am not too fond of the Mars Volta. haha. What it was was that they kinda ran out of songs, and just started playing like drones. It annoyed me a bit, but meh. it was an alright set. I really went for the Pixies, so meh.

the pixies are the nuts. this monkeys gone to heavan is possibly one of my favourite songs of all time. a question for you though, was the female guitarist in the breeders? because she is the spitting image of their lead singer!

^yes, kim from the pixies is the lead singer for the breeders. monkey gone to heaven is a great song ( i like pj harvey's cover of it too)

i got to see pixies/thrills for their reunion tour, im not as obsessed as here comes your man (btw, awesome username/song), but the pixies are one of the best definitely.
