Australian gothic, I meant. "Goth" is something entirely different, clearly. I would consider aspects of Tom Waits' oeuvre to be American GothIC, for example. Perhaps I am wrong in this assumption, too? Oh well, can't get it right every time.

No, I have visited Australia. I am sure it is filled with "good" and "bad" people, just as is any place. And mainstream media output is not a representative reflection of a nation: if this were so, America, for example, would solely be associated with Friday night football, Saturday night baseball, the hotdog and hamburger, Oprah, Tyra American Idol, The E! Channel, Rihanna, Beyonce, etc.,etc (!!!) Point taken.

Unrelated: didn't Cave perform a duet with Kylie Minogue at one point, before her "comeback"? What is the consensus on this song, "Where The Wild Roses Grow"?

Concerning the gothic thing, I just normally don't associate them with the idea... Of course I could be off the ball as well.

Awesome song, despite Minogue being present

You are totally right man! You can't stop the Cave he's a musical genius! He's got the best stage presence I've ever seen. Plus he's also a painter, author and an actor. What a hero!

My favorite Nick Cave album by a country mile, and I'm a huge fan of the man. There is something about this album... Maybe it's the way he looks on the cover.

Don't forget the epic "The Six Strings that Drew Blood"

Another great little number that. As I say, it's definitely my favourite pre-Tender Prey album at least.

I've got pretty high hopes for that, and the so-so Nocturama aside, the guy's yet to disappoint me with his output.

Why was this thread merged with the Dig Lazarus Dig ratings thread?

Seems it was merged with Schizotypic's discography thread too. A bit strange really.

Not quite as strange as people calling DLD average though.
