Doolittle. Sure, The Stone Roses s/t is culturally significant and stuffed full with really decent pop songs - but Doolittle just packs more of a punch. There's more diversity in the songs and, I think, a greater creativity at its core.
Saying that, I dont care much for either scene these albums helped to spawn. |
The Stone Roses didn't make it across the pond, did they?
You guys missed out. |
As a fourteen year old boy from the US, The Pixies should effectively be my band. However, The Stone Roses' debut album changed my life with its brilliant melodies and chiming guitar. A perfect record, "The Stone Roses" easily overshadows The Pixies' "Doolittle" which, despite having some of the best, most awesomely angry material ever, contains too much filler for me to rate it above a 3.5 or so. That said, "Monkey Gone To Heaven" is a better song than anything on "The Stone Roses".

Doolittle... filler?

La La Love You, Crackity Jones, Silver etc...
Just a bit of a mess I guess. |
