I love sunset rubdown like crazy.
I specifically love the songs :
Mending of the Gowns
The Taming of the Hands That Came Back to Life
You go on ahead Trumpet Trumpet II (may be the best song I have ever heard)
Trumpet, Trumpet, Toot! Toot!

The really epic long songs that have nice progressions. I haven't been able to find any other kind of songs or music with build ups I like so much outside of this and I feel like I am missing out of something. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. PM if you want.

Hey new on the forums, so just wanted to say hello and ask for some recommendations, I'm really into The Smiths, Joy Division, Belle and Sebastian, Cults, and Gang of Four (Really only the album Entertainment!, yet to check out much more). Any recommendations along these lines, I know its a bit of a mix-match of directions but anything would be appreciated! Thanks!

Three random bands that came to my mind after looking through your list are Black Tambourine, Orchestral Manoeuvers in the Dark, and Primal Scream. I don't really know, but chances are high you will like some of these.

i've heard some of their songs - though the standard-tuning slide guitar is good, i don't think their melodies are really that good

Some obvious ones just in case:

The Strokes
Cage the Elephant
Kings of Leon
The Kills
anything else Jack White has been involved with
