Matt claims it's not a concept album but it has a lot of recurring themes, so it's close to one. But as Khfreek pointed out Matt doesn't hold the lyrical skills to write a good concept album.

Hmmmmm... yeah Concept album + not so good lyrics = not so good album...

But it sounds as if its more of a thematic approach than actual concept piece like Sweet_Nothing was saying...

Concept albums are indeed difficult pull off for even the most creative artists... Witness the flaws all through Genesis' Lamb Lies Down on Broadway... great album by the way... but a very convoluted, garbled story that required alot of liner notes to unpack and even then it was wanting for some commonsense and feasible plot...

Apparently Gabriel wrote the story / lyrics rather hurriedly and under alot of family / band pressure and tension...

This is the most interesting interview I've ever read!
Interview with Matt Bellamy - Vox
Here Matt discusses how deeply he believes in these conspiracy theories he likes to write about. From The government controlling the weather to secret lizard people on earth such as the queen it's a damn entertaining read.

I also found this last night on stumbleupon

So now I've heard almost all of The Resistance songs because of the videos of the gig in Teignmouth and, surprise surprise, I still think it sucks hard besides USoE (and maybe Exogenesis).

A local radio station here is playing the full album in a couple of days but I don't think I'm going to be pleased considering everything I've heard I really disliked USoE so if that's the only aspect of it that you didn't think sucked hard then I think I'm going to be disappointed. Alas.

I've avoided listening to any of it yet. I'll make my mind up when it gets released so I can listen to all of it properly.

Yes surprise surprise indeed, you've only been droning on about how it will suck since Uprising came out.

I've come across some live tracks from their recent hometown gig. From what I've gathered is that Undisclosed Desire is one hell of an R&B track and that the title track is very catchy and probably be the next single to come out. But Unnatural Selection is probably a filler on the album, I didn't find anything special about it. I heard that if the album doesn't leak by tomorrow the band will stream it from their site.

Interesting. I would listen to it then, or on Spotify or something. I just don't want to be downloading tracks that could just as easily be fake or demo's or using Youtube or anything. I want to hear the new record the way it was intended and in its entirety.

Yes, I've been saying I will dislike it, and somehow I was correct, in spite of the 'fact' that "you can't predict how you'll feel about an album by 30 second clips".

Do you know what a self-fulfilling prophecy is?
